Wow, another year come and gone.

My question to you: Have you ever actually accomplished any new years resolutions?

Yes. After the blizzards of the late 1970s (when I was a commuting college student) I swore never to want snow in the middle of summer. I have made that one yearly and kept it!

Actually, yes. In January 2009 I resolved to lose weight this year and managed to drop and keep off 35 lbs. This one's going to continue into the next year, but I think it's the first time I've ever managed to keep it.

I lost 76 pounds about seven years ago and managed to keep them lost. (My GF says I gave those pounds to her and she wants to give them back. But I don't want them.) It's a struggle, though....a big struggle.

I love to cook, I love to bake, and I love to eat! Most of the time....I eat my willpower. *sigh*

Nope. I figure why wait until Jan 1 to make any changes.

One thing I'd really like to do this year is take a vacation to Hawaii. DBF and I have never been nor have we had a week long trip, yet. Going to start researching a budget friendly trip soon so we can go near our birthdays.

My New Years resolution last year was to just "survive and thrive" and make a new life for myself this year so to speak. At the time, I was going through a horribe divorce, lonely, lost everything pretty much (including my two dogs), and was in an apartment all by myself. My goal was to survive and thrive...I think I've done that.
The key is to just take things one day at a time and to set achieveable goals.

I got through a tough divorce (thanks to a lot of love and support from friends, family, and TCS!), I adopted my sweet German Shepherd, Hagan exactly a year ago today (he needed a new home, just as much as I needed a best friend!), I started medical school for neonatal/pedicatric / cardiovascular Respiratory Therapy, and when I wasn't even looking to date, God brought the most amazing man, Jack into my life (it'll be 8 months next month!).
I couldn't be happier! I'd definitely say I accomplished my goal last year of "surviving"

I started off New Years Eve last year by making a fresh start and a new change in my life the best way I thought possible- bringing new life into my home by adopting Hagan, my wonderful puppy.
He "forced" me to get up out of bed on days when I was sad because reguardless of how I felt- he needed to be fed, walked, trained, and cared for. Hagan was very ill when I adopted him and needed a lot of medical attention (I'm a former vet tech) so he also gave me a new purpose (I HAD to take care of his so he would do well.) and he gave me something to look foward to- milestones....he learned how to play, he learned that I was not going to hurt him, he passed his obedience classes...each milestone was a small celebration and something to look foward to.
I used to think New Years resolutions were silly and I stopped making them because I didn't think that they would do me any good....but last year when I decided I was getting divorced the week of Christmas and moved into my new place Christmas Eve/Day.....New Years was that same week and it just made sense to set some new goals for myself. I'm really glad I did

I've never kept a "new years resolution".

I decided last year, instead, to keep a list of goals I would like to accomplish. I never did get around to it (procrastinated), but I think my mindset needs it for next year.

The last one I made, I did keep: not to make NY resolutions any more.
