I remember my grandfather would always get us children's names mixed up. I remember also thinking, God, I hope I never get so old I cannot even remember the name of my grandchildren.

Yet, I only have two cats and frequently call one by the other's name. Many of you have many more cats than I do so I cannot help but wonder if some of you (even very young people) sometimes call your cats by one of your other cats' names?

OK, be honest now.

My kitties look quite different from one another so I usually don't mix them up. I did however have a goofy moment this week...Jack was being silly and decided to mess with my hair while he was at my place so I said, "Hagan, stop it right now mister!" (Hagan is my German Shepherd)
Poor Jack just paused for a minute then died laughing while it dawned on me I confused him with my puppy

It was quite hilarious! I constantly call Jack, Hagan and vise versa because they're both always up to no good
Glad my wonderful boyfriend has a sense of humor when I slip up

Boy am I embarrassed! I voted now and then, and Maia is my only kitty right now! I have caught myself calling Maia Sweety, or Pandi, or even Cleo, all beloved kitties from my past......They are forever in my mind and heart! Maia gets called a lot of other things as well

ALL THE TIME! With 12 cats running in and out and all the outdoor cats (which have names too) I got into brain overload. Usually it is Harley or Gizmo's name a yell out first...but if it's not them then I go through "Cork..Mis..Little...Oh crap, whoever the h*ll you are, GET DOWN!". I don't mix them up giving them lovings though, only when someone is doing something wrong. And yes, I've even yelled out my dogs names a few times. Got some very sad innocent faces those times. They got extra treats and forgave me.

I mix up Eric and Marie all the time. They look so similar that the only way to really tell them apart to to look at their feet. Eric's "white socks" go up higher on his legs.

I do sometimes, especially the ones of similar colour or they are running about like crazy and all I see is a blur of cats streak by.

On occassion I get Merlin and Magic mixed up. My M&M boys. And then once I called Fancy "Fizzy" after my much missed RB kitty. It is all totally unconscious.

Two black cats, two calicos, and one odd one out (black and white). You do the math.

Seriously, yes, we both do it all the time. Many times we just end up yelling "You black cat!" or "Calico!"

That's what nicknames are for. I have some nicknames that apply to everybody so I don't have to remember their real names. Usually the only ones I get mixed up are Iris and Cali. They are so similar I have to look at their noses to see who is who.

I am always getting names mixed up - I come from a big family and often go through all the names of my siblings before I get the right one!
Sometimes we get Stella and Kahu mixed up but then again, they wouldn't noticed with them being deaf!

No. I'm usually pretty good at getting names straight once I know them or just say kitty. Everything else can come out wrong, though - I'll often say the wrong words, sentences backwards, or just a weird jumble of smushed together words/sounds. Strangely, I never do it with names, people or animals. My MIL does it with everyones names.

All the time, I've even been known to call my furkids by my real kids names.
I have on a number of occasions called Jordan's name (my son) when I've really meant to call Takoda's name.

I will go right down the list until I get whoever I need.

With just two it is rare, but in times past when we had more it happened.

And my poor Dad. One time he was the only male and had been known to run through all the names of the females in his house (two and 4 legged) before he got the one he wanted.

Oh yes, I'm always calling Gracie Casey and Casey Gracie. The fact i that their entire different cats in looks and personality and ones female and the other's male doesn't seem to make a difference! My most embarrassing moment was when I called Gracie Mom!

Also I mix up BF and cat, calling Genever Darren and Darren Genever..

Lets just say most of the barn cats go by "kitty".

Else they'd always be called some one else's name! I can't keep 20 cats straight

Nah I don't really mix them up but I only have two and they are two very distinct colors.

When Isabell had kittens I used to get Match (she had orange markings on her neck that looked like flames it was beautiful..) and Teddy mixed up all the time. They were two torties and the only difference was one was long hair and one short hair. But that's hard to tell between two kittens.
