I like to make hoppin' john (black-eyed peas and sausage) with some greens and cornbread. Black-eyed peas and greens are supposed to bring good fortune! I don't know if you'd like that type of food, but I think it would work pretty well in a crockpot.

I was thinking something southern.
I want Corn Bread for sure.
Is the sausage spicy?
My husband does not eat anything spicy.

The recipe I use calls for andouille sausage, which is definitely spicy. However, I don't see why you couldn't substitute a milder sausage. I will PM the recipe to you (no obligation to use it, of course, if you find something that interests you more!).

P.S. Given your husband's tastes, I won't bother sending the jalapeno cornbread recipe (hehe)!

Fair enough; important to keep your husband happy! (Seriously, though, I don't know what I'd do if my SO didn't like spicy food. I love it and love to make it!!)

Happy New Year to you both!

My mom always made pork roast cooked in sauerkraut, which is definitely doable in a crockpot. And in later years she'd make me some veggie hotdogs in their own sauerkraut too.
I love sauerkraut....

Supposedly it's good luck because pigs push forward with their snouts, like moving forward into the new year or some nonsense like that.

Doesn't seem too lucky for the piggy though!!
