Good morning! Burrr! It's cold (18 °F, -8 °C) outside! Just got back from my usual Wednesday meeting at work (on my day off
)

Here's today's Question Of The Day.

When was the last time you put together a real jigsaw puzzle?

I bet it's been more than 30 years ago for me! We used to always have one going on the dining room table, that everyone would work on, whenever we had a couple of spare minutes. Christmas was when we'd all get each other the most difficult picture puzzles we could find. It was really fun. We even tried a couple of those 3-D ones! I was surprised that our cat, Bootsie, never got up on the table and took off with puzzle pieces or messed it up.

For a while, when I first got my computer, I would do the ONLINE PUZZLE Still fun, but not as much fun as the family puzzle from my childhood!

That sounds like a grea family idea to have one going all the time that you all worked on.
The last time I did one that wasn't an online one was a few years ago when my DH bought me a tough mystery one for Christmas.
I think I could get into them actually as I do enjoy doing them, they just take up a lot of time.

Last time I did one was probably about a year and a half ago. My mom used to do them a lot, but she mostly does crochet these days. I've done a couple in my apartment, but the kitties always seem to want to help. I usually kept them covered when I wasn't working on them. I had one that was about 90% done that I was working on. I turned away and Promise hopped up on the table. When I tried to shoo her off, she turned and started running. It looked like a cartoon - the puzzle just rolled up underneath her and slid off the table while she was running in place.

Maybe back in the early 90s when I had a couple of smaller ones. We have had big ones and I can remember the one we had going on our only dining table. We'd cover it with plastic wrap each mealtime.
Then came the completion day when we discovered one piece was missing.

One of my uncles and his family were big on jigsaw puzzle, the more complicated the better. I remember one was a 3D pyramid with each face the same scene but at different times of the day. And all the pieces mixed together...

Probably 20 years. I'm no good at them and find no enjoyment putting them together.

Ironically I'm good at other pattern type puzzles (the ones you have to mentally turn - like the ones on IQ tests) and ok at puzzle games, it's just with jigsaw puzzles there are too many pieces to look at at once.

It's sooooooooo long since I did a jigsaw puzzle, I couldn't begin to estimate how long. I used to enjoy them a lot, too.

I'm a jigsaw puzzle addict. I bought 3 of them right before Christmas and handed them to DH to give to me for presents.
I also received 2 more for Christmas presents from others so I'm pumped that I have 5 new ones. 2 of them have already been put together since Christmas.

And in all of these years and all of these critters, I've only had 1 piece chewed up by the "kids". My sister was amazed that I still had the puzzles she gave to me about 35 years ago. She asked to borrow them so that her daughter could put them together.

OH geez, it's been years. My dad used to love to put jigsaw puzzles together and sometimes when I was there, I'd find a piece or two. But not in quite a while.

He would lie on the floor with a huge piece of plywood for his puzzle pieces and work on that.

We gave him a huge pizza jigsaw puzzle one time. I forget how long it took for him to get it together, but it didn't take as long as we thought it would.

At Christmas with the family, so..... 1999? 2000? If not for that, it would have been 30 years ago. I love puzzles - but no room for them now that we're back in the RV.

It's been about 5-6 years. Ever since we moved here. We just have no where to do a puzzle. When we lived in town and the kids were at home....we used to put down some plywood on the picnic table under the fir tree and work on puzzles. Good memories!
