I am under vet's orders to switch one of my foster boys to grain free... which means all six that live communally have to switch with him! Well.... they went MAD for the TOTW dry and wet! So I do not foresee any problems!

They were rubbing on and marking the bag before I could even get it open and then jumped on the food!

That is awesome! I have my 5 cats and 2 dogs all on TOTW dry and they all look amazing. I've not seen TOTW wet, though...where are you getting that?

A few of the independent pet stores here carry it. It is $$$$!! Like 85-90 cents for a 3 0z can! So they won't get it often. It is chunks in "gravy" w/o the wheat gluten!!!
They went crazy for it!

What the heck is TOTW? Let's see, it must be an acronym for something after all these years on TCS I am unfamiliar with. I feed my cats 24/7 and Persi has stayed at exactly 12 pounds for 2 years. But Alley has went from 12 pounds to 14 pounds. Of course I have put on ten pounds over the holidays but we willl not mention that. So, might this be a solution to the Alley problem?

Here is something I can do. Alley has never in her life got onto any counter in the house. No furniture either, only the bed. So perhaps Ishould put the food up high on the counter where Persi could have his normal 24/7 food, but only put the bowls down for a while where Alley will get to them. Any other ideas out there? I am feeding them Science Diet Indoor cat right now; Persi maintains his weight but Alley keeps gaining. Is this TOTW a good solution? I really hat the thought of having to alter the food system they have been on for three years. I do not know how old Alley is but put her at 5-6 years. I have no idea what breed she is but you can click to the right of my avatar to see her. I am not stupid enough to believe that she is a calico breed. But at 14 pounds I need to take action.,

BTW, I weigh my cats with a baby scale that I found on sale at a garage sale for only $5!!

TOTW is Taste of the Wild. It's grain free, but not as hard on the pocketbook as some of the others (is that an antiquated saying? LOL) I have all 5 cats on it free fed, and no one has really gained or lost weight with it. Well, maybe Elsa is getting a little chub...

My girls are free-fed on TOTW too and they love it. They have great coats, and are healthy, happy girls. They loved it from the moment it hit their bowls - there was to be be no slow mixing of food - when we changed over, they picked out the TOTW pieces from their bowl and left the old food!

When I gave Casper - who is separate from the other cats - his bowl of mixed Authority and TOTW - he ran over, sniffed it... ran a circle around the room... came back.. and lunged into the bowl... ate a couple kibbles and did the same thing about 4 times. I presume... he was reacting to the TOTW dry.

Lee - I would talk to the vet first before you do anything about Alley's weight. My vet did tell me that dropping the carbohydrate count in the food - among other things - would help Archie with the weight he had packed on very quickly in my house. But I didn't change anything w/o her advice. First words out of her mouth to me: Cats are obligate carnivores!

First she said just go mostly wet which is lower in carbs by its nature than most dry foods. But there were still poo issues, so she said no grain. The Taste of the Wild is about 10 percentage points higher in protein than the Authority food... so that is good.

Trapped in the catroom! ;o)
I am a hugeeee fan of totw. My cats were on it alone not mixed because it made their poo more solid and gigi stopped boofering when on totw alone. I would keep them on it alone if I could afford it now however with having no job anymore I have had to go back to mixing it with junk food and we are back to stinky poos and boofers. I'm hoping when I get my taxes done I can take a good chunk of change and stock up on totw so I can keep them on a higher content of totw versus the junk food. If anyone ever wanted to switch foods personally I would highly reccommend it my kitties love it and go bonkers when its feeding time.

After viewing this thread, I asked the local pet shop to give me a sample of TOTW, and I feel bad about them giving me free samples, so I bought 4 cans of TOTW canned.

They LOVE TOTW. But I tried to give them the canned last night. They do not like it, they just licked off the gravy. My cats are primarily on raw feeding. After I started raw feeding, they basically say no to all canned food. I was hoping TOTW canned will make a difference, but it was not happening.

Farting..LMAO!! She has the stinkiest farts ever but has a clean bill of health shes just a gassy little girl. Ive been checking their poo about twice a day because with them on a less TOTW diet I want to see if they poo is going to go back to unbearable. So far after about 3 wks of mostly junk food they have been doing decent. If GiGi would stop farting she seems to do it the most when we get comfy on the couch and she lays with BF and lets em rip!! LMAO!! Boy that girl can clear a room!!!!

Mine eat TOTW as well - they LOVE it. Of course, it only comprises half of their diet since they're on 50% dry 50% wet, but we're still very happy with it.
