My cat Misty has been on the Wellness core for two to three months now and her poo is very small and small bits. She also gets sick at times. she has been sick two days in a row. I'm hoping someone would suggest something else besides the wellness core. She's not doing well on it. Might go to something for a sensitive stomach.

Hugs,
Anne

Please consult a vet. One get a fecal check to ensure no parasites. Two CORE is a food known for stool issues as it is a very rich ( think a human eating lobster and chocolate when not used to it)

He used to eat lots of wet with my other cat who passed away in October. She only eats the dry but she has a sensitive stomach. Its hard to get a stool sample as the samples she does are very tiny and she does drink water. She has a very sensitive stomach so I was thinking of changing her to the Royal Canin stomach comfort with rice. It may be better for her. Although it does have corn in it. Not sure what to do now. The core food is causing Misty to have stool problems and that's why I'm changing it. Try a sensitive stomach one.

Anne

I would read the Royal canin carefully ... Most of the time it has rice, Wheat, Corn and other grains...

What other food choices do you have?

Common foods that cause issues with tummys:
Wheat , Corn , Soy, Fish

Formulas with multiple types of meat
example
turkey, venison and fish in one formula

veggies

Since we are on the discussion of sensitive tummys... Sharky i was wondering what you thought about Pinnacle Peak. Its a grain free, claims to contain no allergens, and is for sensitive stomachs.
Most importantly... it doesn't have peas (Neko/pea allergy). When I took her off TOTW I had to put her back on Core, which was too rich for her. Plus she had smelly poo on TOTW which was maybe also too rich for her. So I transitioned her to Avoderm since i had a coupon and got a bag for $5! I know it contains other allergens but we have finished a bag and her stools are much better! Not smelly either. Her coat is nice too. Still a little itcy from the peas but I am noticing that it is slowing down, a few itches a day.
Maybe in a month or two I want to switch her to a better food, but have not had luck with the past two grain frees we've tried! Here are the ingred on Pinnacle:

Ingredients
Chicken Meal, Chicken, Potato Protein, Potato Flour, Chicken Fat (Preserved with Mixed Tocopherols and Ascorbic Acid), Ocean Fish, Natural Flavor, Tomato Pomace, Dried Egg Product, Dried Cranberries, Salt, Potassium Chloride, Choline Chloride, Taurine, Dried Yucca Schidigera, Bromelain, Papain, Dried Bacillus Subtilis Fermentation Product, Dried Aspergillus Oryzae Fermentation Product, Ferrous Sulfate, DL-Alpha Tocopherol Acetate (Source of Vitamin E), Zinc Oxide, Copper Sulfate, Cobalt Proteinate, Riboflavin Supplement (Source of Vitamin B Complex), Zinc Methionine, Iron Proteinate, Manganese Proteinate, Copper Proteinate, Niacin, Sodium Selenite, Vitamin B12 Supplement, Vitamin A Supplement, Calcium Pantothenate, Biotin, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (Source of Vitamin B6), Calcium Iodate, Thiamine Mononitrate (Source of Vitamin B1), Folic Acid, Potassium Iodate, Vitamin D3 Supplement.

Holistic, allergen-free formula contains no allergens such as corn, wheat, rice, barley, sorghum or soy
Sensitive Formula
Contains organically grown quinoa

I'm open to other suggestions and i'm sure the OP is too...
I, however, need NO peas and for sensitive tummy.

I find the bold statement interesting, since the formula contains Fish, Natural flavors, and chicken, all allergens

To Silva_unt: IMO it depends to what your kitty is sensitive to, and what he does well on... I would put him in a simpler formula to start with...

What kind of simpler formula? Avoderm has chicken, herring, and most likely natural flavors... it isn't a GREAT food but she's doing well on it. Core was too rich and TOTW had peas, firmed up the stools a bit but were still VERY SMELLY. I just figured Pinnacle had ingred she could handle but still grain free.
Thank you for your response.

LOL allergen free is only possible via NO proteins at all which cat food has to have or molecular separation like SD ULTRA ZD

NOTE I was looking from the allergy angle ... IMHO chicken is still not a HIGH allergen

Where is the Quinoa I happen to love this grain for homemade diets and humans

Silva, if she is doing well on it, then that is the answer! For kitties with sensitive tommies, I like a one protein formula - only chicken, or only fish, or only venison... And less stuff - the least amount of ingredients, the better. BUT, it depends to what she is sensitive to... Bugsy is allergic to Chicken, and he does really well on a mixture of orijen 6-fish/acana grasslands. I find Orijen to be grain free but not too rich at all...
So in the end a good formula will be the one that your kitty will do well on it...
I do have a problem however with the Statement form Pinnacle - That is simply not an anti-allergic formula if contains Fish, natural flavors and chicken (that doesn't mean it is a bad food)

I agree! That statement is very mis-leading. Will stay on Avoderm for a while, since she's okay. Too bad orijen has the peas.... got excited there for a second.

Can you give us a couple of examples of foods you consider to be "simpler" formulas?

Thanks

there are many many thread s on that subject

IMHO simpler foods are usually one meat and one grain or starch .... Natural balance pea and duck would be one

what foods would you suggest for my cat with a sensitive stomach ? She's on the wellness core and then I tried Royal Canin Digestive Comfort 38 and she just got sick tonight again. Anything to help her stomach being sick so its easy on her tummy.

Hugs,
Anne

California natural is a basic formula that has been around for years ...

Natural balence makes a few.. duck and pea , chicken and pea

made by royal canin ... and sometimes hard to find is sensible choice..

My formula for simple is ONE meat and One grain or starch...

example = chicken and rice .... fish and sweet potato

NOT chicken , turkey, rice , barley , fish , millet
