Marlow

When Marlow moved in on 11/19 I put a litterbox in the basement for him. He ignored it, opting to share Sasha's litterbox upstairs. Well, we had health issues last week with both cats. They are both fine now. During the health scare I bought a new litterbox identical to the one they were sharing and set them side by side. Today, five days after being placed in service, Marlow decided he will use the new box. Great news for both boys I think.

Marlow is playing more and is less afraid of me. He still tries to keep away from me but he doesn't run as fast or as far. Progress! He is a very smart boy. Slowly, very slowly he is coming along. I can see it each week. I think he and Sasha formed a strong bond while they were both ill last week. They still compete when food is involved but I think that will soon change also.

I am glad the boys are making such progress and I hope they are all better. One day when you least expect it, Marlow will act like you are his new best friend!

Do you rest sometimes during the day? Taking a nap or reading a book lying down?? If not, try with it.
If Marlow uses to sleep on or near your wife Becky, there is some chance he will come to you when you are lying down daytime: there is no Becky to rival to you, and it is after all a pleasure to lie between someones knees...

But dont try Becky cuddling him while he lies between yours knees: it may be to overdo it... - Our oldest awakes me, to get up and cuddle him while he lies down behind my wifes knee bend, him purring aloud... Talk about love! - it may be overdone sometimes...

I do rest sometimes in my favorite chair. When I do Sasha jumps into my lap. Almost always. Marlow is not ready for anyones lap yet. He only now sits still for a pet from Becky.

I have not personally witnessed Marlow sleeping in the bed while I am in it. (I did see him sleeping there when I returned from a trip in the middle of the night). I wake to find him there but he is always sitting up. Last night he was there and smacked my hand, which was under the cover, with his claws out. Ouch! He did that before but I had forgotten about it. When he sees something move, he goes after it. Sasha sleeps against or between my legs almost everynight. Becky, who doesn't sleep as soundly as I do, believes that Marlow is trying to displace Sasha from that spot. Sasha will have none of it though. I think that perhaps Marlow would have both Sasha and me go sleep somewhere else.

Several of our cats would love it if we gave up the bed to them!

Sounds like things are going really well though! I love Marlow updates!

...and glad to hear they're both better.

I spoke too soon on the health. Sasha had urinary issues surface as soon as I finished posting this morning. He is dealing with a partially blocked urethra I believe. He is going to the vet again in 45 minutes.

I read that his symptoms can be caused by the stress of introducing another cat. i.e. Marlow.

Do these cat's look stressed? I took this photo today. I think Marlow knows Sasha is not 100%.

Holding thumbs for Sasha and sending vibes!

How old is Sasha? Because while stress can certainly cause bladder/irritation problems like cystitis, I was under the impression that diet (and genetics) is the primary culprit for crystals.
