Now before everyone flames at me saying OH NOOOO!!! This was a good thing.
I learned I can control this in a social situation.
My intent with the drinkng was not to never drink again, that is AA mentality.
One drop of alcohol and you are back to hell!
I am having my coffee and have no jones to go get more booze, none at all.

I am very happy for you
I don't like black and white thinking, I think black and white thinking isn't how normal people think and teaching you this means simply how to deal with a situation, not teaching you how to return back to a normal non addicted state. It may work for some people, and if it works for them great- but each and every person is different and there is no one way that works for everyone.

Fighting for ferals in NW NJ!
Gary had a major drinking problem before we got back together many years ago. He tried to cold turkey and almost ended up in a hospital. He had to drink less and less and then cold turkey. He stopped drinking altogether for about 4-5 months - then he slowly introduced wine back into his life. We were able to enjoy a bottle every week or so, and ever since then, his drinking has been "socially normal," so to speak.

His current medical condition doesn't allow him to drink, so he hasn't had any alcohol in over three years. But if drinking made you feel like the top of your head was going to be ripped off and your brain was going to explode, I don't think you'd drink at all.

I don't live in a black & white world either, and I'm really glad you enjoyed yourself! I hope you're able to enjoy moderation!

Yep, the world is just not cut and dry.

Good job in taking a step forward by recognizing that you can control yourself while still enjoying yourself.
