Hi,

I have an 8-week old foster kitten who has suffered frostbite to both rear paws and the tip of her tail. The paws are not in very good shape. They have been very swollen but the swelling has gone down for the most part. Now the skin on her paws has become very hard and it's breaking and coming off in some places. Right by her ankle, where the hard skin begins, the skin has cracked leaving a long, open wound a little longer than half an inch. There is pinkish puss coming out from the wound if you push on it a little. The same thing is coming out from other places on her paw too.
I'm wondering if I should cover the wound or if I should leave it open? I don't want anything to get in the wound, like kitty litter, but then maybe it should air out.
I'm going to call the vet in the morning but I thought I'd ask what to do until then here.

Thanks
