I have made the discovery that my scaredy foster Casper actually likes to play... I didn't didn't have the right toys!!

Right now his "toy" is the nylon strap from my office chair lumbar support!. Well... I would like to find something longer and more appropriate for him. String. Rope. Nylon ribbon. Something tough that he can chew w/o a problem... he likes it dragged. Or dangled. This is good. He need the stimulation and the exercise.

Any suggestions? And no - he didn't like Da Bird. He was afraid of it. So is Ghost... unless you drag it on the floor.

I've had good luck with shoe strings. Remove the ends (so they won't come off and get swallowed) and tie a knot in the end so it won't unravel.

I got a really long piece of cotton string and tied a knot in both ends about an inch or so from the end then let my kitties play with that. It's long enough for me to throw one end out and drag slowly across the floor, under bags, along the edges of boxes, and under an old towel on the floor for them to pounce on and attack. The ends are now frayed and I trim it so the loose strings aren't too long, but I've never had a problem with them chewing off the loose strings. I do put it away when we're not playing with it, though.

You might like the toy that's a long piece of fleece on a wand (I can't remember what it's called), but my experience is that you need to trim the end of it when it becomes dry and brittle from the cat getting their slobber all over it and it gets hard. The end will break off or they'll chew it off.

I also have something similar to the Butterflier, only it's got pieces of brown paper wrapped up very tightly on the end for the cats to attack, pounce, and chew on. I thought it was made by Go Cat, but I didn't see it on their website. Here's the link to see the Butterflier: http://www.go-cat.com/images/Butterflier.jpg

Here's the one I was thinking of! http://www.petsmart.com/product/inde...55039&lmdn=Cat

OK - got the cat dancer.... Cas was ....oooohhh... kaaaayyyy... not great. We also bought a roll of sisal rope at Home Depot and plan to make some dangly toys out of that for the boys... Maybe tie a lure onto the end or something.

I know you said no to da bird, but......... I will say..... Da Bird with the Cat Catcher attachment - This is the best attachment EVER!!! and yes, you drag it on the floor, as oppose it of flying it like the feather ones... It drives my kitties wild! I bet he would love this arrangement.

Thanks, Carolina. We are not done getting new toys for the guys, including Cas.

I put a wool blanket on the floor for them to lay on... they turned it into a "nest."
This morning - the new rabbit fur mousies were "buried" in there!

I have a 4 ot 5 foot piece on cotton string attached to a 3 foot length of wood dowel.

Basically, it is a cat fishing rig, cast it out, draw it back towards you. I can sit in a chair and flick the string out and watch the "show" (I know, lazy, on my part
)

All three of ours love it.

I never leave them alone with string in case they eat it, Taz is my worst potential string eater, they don't get the opportunity to get at it, unsupervised.

Clay, I have one of those cotton strings, minus the dowel. When I cast it out and "catch" a cat, I call it "catfishing"!

In fishing terms, with Kasey, you are guarantied a "strike" every time.

She didn't get to play a lot when she was younger, I think she's making up for it
