Stumpy absolutely adores dogs. His best friends in the house have always been dogs and when he was younger, he'd play with them for hours. Now that he's old, he sleeps snuggled up next to them for hours. He was raised with 5 dogs and when the last of those crossed, he went into a deep depression for about 11 months until we adopted Sam. The day we brought Sam home from the shelter was one of the happiest days in Stumpy's life. He had a look on his face like "you bought me a puppy!!!!!". You've seen this picture before but I'll repost cause it's so darn cute.
Stumpy has been sick with an auto-immune disease for the last 12 years and it's finally gone into remission because he started to eat dog food (not to worry, it's very good dog food). He gets fed with the dogs each day.
I received some liver dog treats from Auntie Eileen the other night and was giving them to the dogs when Stumpy decided he wanted to participate. Please notice how he's sitting, looking up at me with the same begging stare as the dogs.
Stumpy has no teeth in his mouth, so I've never given him a dog treat before. After the dogs got theirs, I felt a jab in my leg (he uses the stump of his tail to poke me), looked down and realized that Stumpy was telling me he wanted one too. I held one out and he stood on his back legs to get one.
But poor baby couldn't handle the treat with no teeth, so I took pity on him and broke it up into his food bowl. He practically inhaled it.
