Well here it comes - our Christmas Blizzard!
White Christmas - kinda puts a damper on family plans, though!

This is the start of it - we had a pre-cursor of 3" on Monday. Sleet earlier today, then turned over the snow.

Izzy was dying to go out, so I let her out with the big dogs tonight. She had trouble with the drifts, but loved it anyways.

Anywhere from 4" - 15" right outside the front of the house, depending on if you're in a low spot or a drift

Izzy looks like she is having a blast!

We are on the ice side of the storm here in Madison.
Not that I want more snow, the 17 inches we got two weeks ago in that blizzard (what a winter so far!) then 4 more yesterday is plenty, but ice just sucks! Snow, sleet, freezing rain, regular rain, and possible flooding, we are getting the whole works. *grumble*
Supposed to go to all rain (not freezing) in the afternoon, so fingers crossed the roads will be OK!

There's no place like home
It's been raining (thunderstorms) here the last 24 hours, and they actually had tornado warnings to the south of us. But in about 8 hours, the rain will turn to ice for a few hours, then we get dumped with the snow. 9-13 inches predicted here, which is a lot of snow for this area (the record was 14 inches in a single day). Our high temp for Christmas day is only 13, which is also very cold for here.

Everyone please be safe through this storm. It is a bad one!

Probably 8 inches here, and it just got started. Thankfully, I have off from work for the next 4 days. Alas, the husband does not. He is currently on the bus, which is apparently stuck in a snow bank at the bus stop right outside our apartment

Oh the weather outside is frightful, but the computer is so delightful. And since there's no place to gooooooo, let it snow, let it snow, let is snow!

Most of it is gone from here, and the one that passed through here apparently made 'mated' with another storm, and the result is huge. Had about a foot of the whitebleep here since Monday, and now it is happily blowing around and making a huge mess. I haven't a clue what my driveway (using the term loosely, as said drive is 250' long) looks like or if I can even get out of the house but made provisions for the later. I can see that I am gonna be moving a lot of snow over the next few days, and will be going nowhere for Christmas, already cancelled plans because of the mess. Took me two hours to dig out by the barn yesterday so I could feed cats and horses.

It's just about light enough to see something now, and a brief look at the barn shows I won't have to dig that out again today, but the rest of the yard looks bad. Guessing we had around a foot of whitebleep over the last couple of days.

The poor barn cats have been living under the heat lamp, emerging for tinned food and a nice warm drink and back under the lamp.

I put small litterboxes, food, & water in the doghouses. I saw all but 1 of the farm kitties - she's very self sufficient so she's probably holed up somewhere I can't get to.

Still lightly snowing - it'll be interesting to see how this continues.

We're just on the western side of this one, and apparently we were spared the worst. We only got about 6-8" here, my father lives 80 miles north of us and got 10-12". But Dad had planned on driving out to northeastern Nebraska for a celebration of his father's 90th birthday on Sunday (travelling out on Saturday) but isn't sure he'll be able to make it now.
