I was browsing through the other thread about eye problems when a link posted there. (http://www.animaleyecare.net/disease...unctivitis.htm)

Milo I guess is a squinting cat. I've noticed him squinting on and off since he was a kitten, usually if he just woke up. I thought it was just a habit. However last night I noticed some rusty brown discharge for the fist time from one of his eyes last night. There wasn't that much, so I cleaned it for him. It came back this morning and tonight. I'm going to give my vet a call tomorrow, but I just wanted to better understand what I'm talking about. I don't think he has an infection. From what I read, conjunctivitis is common in Persians. (which he's obviously not)

How worried should I be about this?

Here's a picture of his eye:

Hello,

My kitten has been going through the same for two days now, except that it is tears not any other discharge.

She is 2 months old and was adopted this past Sunday. Yesterday I noticed that one of her eyes was very teary. It looked like she was crying. I thought it was normal but it lasted two days. I called the vet and she said that it might be a cold or from something that she isn't used to in the environment. She keeps squinting and it looks a bit red around. I am worried! Is this normal? what should I do? I don't want her to be in pain and lose her eye sight.

Please help!

Having eye discharge is not always a sign of illness. My 17 year old kitty Isie has the same discharge your Milo has. Shes had it since she was about 6 years old. Over the course of 11 years I've had about maybe different 13 vets examine her and not a single vet has told me there is anything wrong with her eyes. In fact they just say its in her genes.

However your kitty does need to be examined by a vet. Only a vet can know for sure. For Isie I simply take a soft damp (not wet damp) warm washcloth and wash her face once a day.

Take her to the vet before they close for the holiday! It sounds like it could be an upper respiratory infection or some sort of eye infection.

I just got back from the vet. Milo has an eye infection and the vet gave me some eye drops for him. he wasn't too pleased with the whole experience, but I feel a lot better knowing what's wrong with my baby.
