Hi all, well I'm being nosey again lol. I love hearing what everyone has. We are not having turkey this year, I find it to be dry sometimes. So we are having roast beef, parsnips, roast potatoes, carrots, brussels (of course
), cabbage and leeks. Homemade gravy and I think thats about it. x

We are having turkey breast, ham, stuffing, potatos. That's as far as I know. My daughter is cooking. Something yummy for desert. I am jealous of the brussels. Love them!

You lucky people. My youngest sister has Christmas day, and she always cooks weird things that I can't eat. I would love a nice turkey dinner! But no....it's always some weird kebab thing or something spicy. I'm making a big cake. So at least there will be something I can eat!

We never have turkey on Christmas day, it is always pork in different ways, like blood sausage (gross I never eat it), roast pork loin, things like that. We also make baklava for dessert.
Before christmas we have the advent (or nativity) fast which starts Nov 15th so on Christmas eve we make vegetarian meals..
does any other religion besides eastern orthodox have a fast before Christmas? I am just curious because I have never heard anyone talk about it while I have heard Catholics mention lent before Easter, but never the advent fast, maybe it just so happened.

Keeping fingers and paws crossed for no ice on Christmas Day, so our kids and my in-laws will be able to join us. Dinner:

Stuffed Crown Roast of Pork - the stuffing has cornbread, whole wheat, and white breads, browned sausage, and Granny Smith apples
Mashed Potatoes (made ahead)
Gravy (made ahead)
Sagaponek Corn Pudding (from Ina Garten)
Maple Sweet Potatoes with Dried Cherries and Apricots
Creamed Onions
Cranberry Relish
Asparagus with Leeks
Mandarin Orange and Pecan Salad

And for dessert: assorted cookies, Peanutty Hot Fudge Cheesecake, and Frosted Pumpkin Bars

There will be enough food that everybody can take home a nice doggie (kitty?) bag. I will do the cooking, so my DH and DS will do the clean-up afterward.

We are having a nice quiet candle lit dinner for two (Four if you count the cats) Of turkey, stuffing (bleck...i wont be touching that) Mashed Potatoes, Sweet Potatoes, Broccoli casarole (Awesome!), gravy and of course biscuts. Maybe some sparkling grape juice or sparkling apple juice since we don't drink. I have not decided what we will have for dessert yet (maybe Apple pie with icecream
) And hopefully eggnog! My hubby to be is in charge of the Turkey stuffing and gravy and i am making the rest. We both will clean up.

I am thinking left overs should feed us for a week.

Ill have 4 people in total, which is enough for me in my small apartment! Im making turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, asparagus, sweet potato, gravy, and pillsbury flaky rolls! I love making turkeys! Always in pursuit of the perfect roast lol....For dessert not 100% sure as there will be lots of christmas goodies around, but strongly leaning towards apple crisp mmm

Our neighbors family is going to come over for Christmas an we're sharing the cooking. I need to confirm the final menu today, but it looks like:

Appetizers:
Shrimp cocktail
Crab dip
Cheese & cracker platter
Vegetable platter

Main course:
Smoked ham
Smoked ribs
Ambrosia salad
Green bean casserole
Scalloped potatoes
Broccolli casserole
Deviled eggs
Rolls

Dessert:
Cheesecake
Apple cake
Rum balls

Drinks:
Strawberry/banana rum slushy
Margaritas
Beer and wine
Root beer for the kids

Of course if we get ice or snow on Christmas will cut out a lot of this since our neighbor's family won't be able to drive here to participate. We'll have anywhere between about 10 and 20 people depending on the weather.

Christmas party is at hubby's aunt's house (with snowstorm we are not sure if we will go or not at the moment). But everyone brings a little something - so its more/less pot luck. She does provide a few things like turkey/ham and buys those big fancy cocktail shrimp; I get to eat hubby's share of them as he doesn't eat seafood

I'm cooking Filipino food (dh is Fili). I'm making a stew called "estofado" with crispy fried potato chunks on top, steamed rice, spring rolls and a fruit salad in a cream cheese/coconut sauce. I'm making oven baked tofu steaks for myself (vegetarian).

We are taking care of a neighbor who just had knee replacement surgery on Monday, so I needed something easy to prepare ahead and reheat. We will be able to give them a nice care package as well.

All this talk of sea food is making my mouth water for our christmas eve meal. We are going to a friends parents house for dinner tomorrow night for fried shrimp, talipia, crab cakes, pasta and other things.

When i was growing up my dads family used to do their own version of the Italian 7 fishes for christmas eve. Last night i drove past an italian resturant that was advertising it. It made me miss being a child at Christmas!

That sounds heavenly; won't happen in a million years, but I'd love to try that sometime.

Lunch will be a my MIL's, I'm told she's roasting a turkey. Unfortunately, her cooking skills have deteriorated since she remarried, as her husband likes things a certain way. The mashed potatoes always have big lumps in them and the stuffing is always watery is giant hunks of onions and celery. Her saving grace is home-made noodles, of which I intend to eat 2 or 3 helpings.
There'll be pumpkin pie that no one will eat and some hard dinner rolls.

Supper will be at my Mom's house; I've provided a ham for her to bake, and will be taking a fancied-up baked bean dish and a cheesey potato casserole. My SILs will be bringing assorted side dishes, as well, and we'll all bring plates of our homemade Christmas cookies for dessert. I'm going to mix up a batch of brownies tomorrow, too, and I always bring punch. My BIL and one of my brothers will bring different kinds of beer. A good time will be had by all.
