can i feed the cats nutri-cal????

I actually have had a tube of this for.... 3 years (dont know if it goes bad - no expiration date). I used to give it to my ferret - and was wondering if 1) i should just throw it out or if 2) i could give it to the ferals in their food...
of course I wouldnt know how much each cat gets though - if that matters

heres some info on it...

Ingredients:
What does Nutri-Cal contain that is so beneficial to my pet? Nutri-Cal is packed with vitamin A, D & E, Phosphorus, Thiamine, Calcium, Manganese, Iodine, Potassium, Iron, Folic Acid, Riboflavin and other essential ingredients.

Extra Information:

I dont think it will hurt because being old. And if it smells bad (solution some petroleum fat I think) - they wont eat.

Although I suspect most of the vitamine content is gone. So I think its better than nothing, but nowhere the value as fresh.


lets hope someone else knows for real, not only intelligent quesses.

I have used Nutri-Cal for feral kittens and cats before. For undernourished little kittens I make a mush out of Nutri-Cal, tinned food, pedialyte and KMR and give them that for a few days to stimulate their appetite and fatten them up. For an adult cat, the instructions are to give 1 1/2 teaspoons per 10lbs. I would estimate their weights and just mix some in with their weight - it won't do them any harm, and given the cold weather a few extra calories would be appreciated I'm sure!

of course after i posted that i found a site that said to be careful of overdose and take to vet if it happens....

but if you guys have given it to many cats in their food- i guess its ok?????
