Carolinalima bravely came down and visited the shelter with me today. She also bravely resisted Jordan here, so he's still looking for a home!

There's no place like home
It's always so nice to see a face to a name, and I love the way you are smiling at Jordan!!

And considering you and I were chatting at 2:30 in the morning last night, you look remarkably rested!

Lovely pics, Mike! Jordan is blue-eyed, right? Lynx point mix?

Oh, Carolina, it must have been really hard to set him back down!!

You guys are toooooooooo kind! Gosh, I feeeeeelllllllllllllllll soooooo not lovely in those pictures
. No make up, not a minute of sleep last night, and a lot of xtra lbs!! But The Kitty, oh, yes, He is GORGEOUS! His face is so beautiful too! He has piercing blue eyes, and very strong Tom like features... yet he is sweeeeeetttt.... cute thing... Hug and purr machine

It was wonderful meeting Mike and Dottie!!
It was also my first time ever in a shelter... Awwww.... It broke my heart in a thousand pieces the drive home... The kitties don't meow - they "Me - me - me - me", begging for love and attention, tapping on you to get you to take them from the cages to pet them a bit and let them play... I can hear them now saying "my turn, me me me"...
I just hope they can all get a home...
This trip really made me want to volunteer for shelter... just to play with them... give them love... God, they appreciated their little time with us SO much! The little love they got from us... That was the highlight of their days...
I know there is MUCH more involved to volunteering than that... but if I could give them love...
Thank you so much Mike for taking me with you - It was a wonderful experience!!

Good luck to all your kitties

Little Bill and a couple of the other cats you met have been transferred to the Dallas SPCA. They will be taken to a PetSmart, probably, to be available for adoption there. So they are out of danger.

I also put my name on that little flame point boy with the dilated pupils. The shelter is not going to put any new cats in treatment for the next couple of weeks, so any cat that gets too sick to be out for adoption will have to be put to sleep. This way, if he gets sick, they'll call me before they euthanize him.

OK, a little update.

Jordan, the lynx-point, was taken to one of our vets' offices to be available for adoption there. Most cats there get adopted very quickly.

Arizona, the tortie with the orange stripe on her nose, got adopted Thursday.

Morris, the guy who appeared to be a British Shorthair cross, was adopted just minutes before closing on New Year's Eve. He was at on of the vets' offices.

Little Bill was transferred to the Dallas SPCA.

Reba and "Little Head" got adopted about a week ago.

I took the big black female cat up to my vet's office to be available there, since that was where Morris had been. Big girl with huge golden eyes. We named her Luna Lovegood, since her eyes looked like moons!

The little cream yellow guy with the lame leg may be going to the Dallas SPCA, if they promise not to euthanize him. He gets around just fine, uses the litter box, etc.; just can't use his right rear leg.

Gracie, a dilute gray tabby, was put to sleep. She refused to eat and just crashed. She was an older cat, and she may have had tooth problems.

The cat count is way down, due to trying to wipe out the URI that's been wreaking havoc.
