I have 2 male Sphynx boys.. both almost 4 years old. I feed them twice a day with a wet cat food and also twice a day with a dry food that they can nibble on over a period. I am feeding Royal Canin Fit 32.. not a great food but in South Africa it is the best of a bad bunch. They are constantly bringing up their food - 1 or the other at least every day. It is not vomit as such, more like regurgitated food. They are as fit and healthy as can be as well as very happy and playful. Do any Sphynx owners feed the special Sphynx breed Royal Canin? I had thought that I might try the breed specific food as perhaps it is a breed specific problems. Any thoughts?

Considering they are eating 2x a day, they might be getting so hungry, they are eating too fast... so they regurgitate it.
A couple of things you can do about that - can you feed them 3x a day?
Also, you can try to put a baseball, or a couple of ping pong balls into their food bowl - this will help to slow down their eating, preventing this problem. Here in the US we have bowls that we can buy for this problem, like this, but you can do it just as easily as I explained... Try also to elevate their plates - it often helps too.

Good luck!!

Thanks for the tips Carolina
. Yes, I can definitely feed them 3 times a day and will start them off on their new programme from tomorrow. The ping pong ball method sounds very clever.. you are right - they wolf their food down. I had not thought that that could be the cause. I will also elevate their food bowls somewhat. Such good advice.. thanks so much

I have wanted to feed my sphynx the Royal Canin for phynx but you can not get it in the USA.
Alot of sphynx do throw up after they eat.
You can try chicken or turkey baby food.
I have been doing that with Cleo because she was throwing up and everything has been fine.
It has to be the plain baby food in broth though.
If I give cleo Royal Canin 33 she gets hive all over and gets sick.
I hope your cats fel better.
I do now ome sphynx breeder in other countries that have tried the Royal Canin for sphynx and like it.
I wish we had it in the USA.

Hi mews2much... wow, I am gobsmacked - for ONCE we are able to get a product in South Africa that is not available in the USA! I am always looking on the internet at all the fantastic dog and cat food that is available over there and am always wishing that we could have even one tenth of the good stuff over here! I am interested to hear that you have heard good things about the RC Sphynx, and as soon as their bag of Fit 32 is finished I am going to buy the breed specific food for them. Sadly I don't think they will eat the baby food - they are hooked on the junk wet food and even turn their noses up at chicken, mince meat, fish, etc.. They are strange little chaps indeed.. although I don't have to tell you what funny little characters the Sphynx are

What wet food are they eating?
Cleo eats the baby food in less then 30 secs.
I use it as a treat when I show but Cleo is on because she was throwing up.
She only has a few more days on the baby food then I need to find something that will not give her hives and make her sick.
You know how crazy sphynx can be.
Do you know Elizabeth or Jeaneatte?
They are both from South Africa and have sphynx.
I wil as around about the Royal Canin Sphynx and see what everyone has to say about.
Dont you love the sphynxs.

Thanks for the tip about the baby food.. I will give it a try. As you say, these cats are crazy and they might just surprise me. I love their characters and we are never short of entertainment in our household
. Where do your friends Elizabeth and Jeanette live? I live in Cape Town. The wet food that I feed my 2 boys is either Whiskas, Friskies or Catmor.

Elizabeth is a breeder and she is in Norton Home Estate, Benoni, South Africa and Jeanette is not a breeder.
I am not sure what city she lives in.
I will have to ask her when she comes on which not be for a while.
She is so busy right now.
What color are your sphynxs?
I have 2 and plan on getting 1 more.
Those foods are not very good.

I don't know the breeder you mention - my boys come from Cape Town and Durban. Molly is white and Caluga is red. Molly is huge and Caluga is tiny, even though they eat the same amount and type of food. I would love a household full of Sphynx. It would be awesome if you could get another one.. one can never have too many! What are the colours of your babies? I know that the food is not great, but we are SO limited here in SA.
