Spilling his food

George has a new habit that I'd like to break if possible! About a month or so ago, after he used his litterbox, he'd walk into the kitchen and try to bury his food (the food/water bowls are on a throw rug and he'd bat up a corner). Well, now, for about the last week, he's been putting his paw in the food dish and tips it up, slams it down (over and over) so the food will spill out!! This happens at all hours so in the middle of the night, a loud banging can be heard from the kitchen - enough to wake you up. So, bad enough during the day, worse when you're sleeping!!

I'm going to look for a raised bowl set to see if that helps and then see what he does with that (I can just picture both food and water bowls spilled all over the place because he's trying to tip the food bowl...).

Really wish he'd understand "Stop It!" - but since I never actually catch him in the act - I usually make it to the kitchen just in time for him to look up at me and give me the 'what did I do?' look with those big golden eyes....

My cats did that, I went to Walmart and got petfood and water feeders...they are between $8 and $15 (if I recall)...anyway you fill the container with food/water and its too heavy for them to knock over.

It looks kind of like the water containers you would have delivered to your home. They have them for water, and for kibble.

This worked for me, so maybe it will work for you. Good luck.
