It's Henry! Hope this isn't too long ...

(A little background) We live on a cul-de-sac on a lake, bordered by a busy road. I know all my neighbor's pets. If we get strays here, they've been dumped or are the offspring of a lady who lives three streets down who refuses to spay her female.

In July, trying to trap a kitten I think was one of her latest litters, I trapped a Bengal mix instead. He's a big solid boy - we named him Henry. I had him fixed and released him. Didn't see him for months. Then, in November, I saw two more kittens (grrr!). One was later hit by a car and is buried in my yard.

Set the trap, went through two weeks of feeding in the trap and Bingo -caught the Bengal again. Took him to the clinic just to be sure and yep - it was Henry.

My friend brought him home from the clinic for me and he escaped from the trap in her truck. Instead of freaking, he crawled into her lap and purred the whole way home. We were stunned as he is very adept at keeping a low profile. She was unable to gt him back into the trap when she got to my house, so she had to let him out.

I've been putting food out every night since. It always disappears. I was assuming it was him but until last night, did not know for sure.

With the snow coming, I had to bury yet another cat I'd found and after putting out the food went to the shed to get the shovel. When I came out, there was Henry eating his dinner. I stopped and said "Hello" and he came over for some pets! He's a love bug.

I asked him if I could pick him up and he said "Nope" hissed once and ran back into the woods. I have one of my cottages there, so I checked and sure enough, he's using it. At least he's warm for the storm but I may work on getting him inside.

Oh, that is wonderful news. I hope you get Henry, he seems to want to stay with you. At least you know he is close by.

Sounds like he was somebody's baby that got out at a fairly young age, or someone else has been consistently taking care of him and he's gotten used to people.

Very good candidate for indoors, I'd say.
