I have friends living in Seattle, who are moving back to Australia on fairly short notice. They have an 11 year old cat and because they haven't had time to get all the quarantine stuff in order (you need to start 6 months in advance), they would have to keep her in quarantine for 4 months - not a nice option for an 11 year old cat.

So they need either someone who could take of their kitty for 6 months, someone who would adopt the kitty, or a good cat rescue - but the odds of an 11 year old black cat being adopted, no matter how sweet is pretty low.

Does anyone know of anyone who could help?

Unfortunately I'm nowhere near Seattle so I can't help but my advice would be to focus on finding someone to foster the cat for six months. Like you said, an 11-year old black cat is not likely to get adopted. If I was your friend I'd start advertising everywhere and anywhere for someone to care for their cat for six months. There are good people out there that are willing to help but you have to find them so please be proactive. I think it would really help if your friend would offer to pay for all expenses such as food and litter. If they can give some sort of monetary compensation that would probably expand their chances of finding someone. Of course it's important to make sure that the foster home is not just going to take the money and throw the cat in a closet but you have to screen anyone even if you're not paying them.

Good luck. I hope they find someone to help.
