How to fix StatiKitty

So i need to figure this out.

Both Tinker and Wilbur have gotten to where when I pet them they are staticy. Like, if I run my hand over their fur about 1/2 inch over the hair, it rises just like static stuff, then when i pet them. If i pet from neck to tail, i get a shock when i get to the butt. lol. i know this sounds dumb but I'm serious.

I've considered putting them in the dryer with a bounce thing, but other than that I can't figure out how to stop this.

any less lethal ways?

Get a humidifier! You could also put a big pot of water on the stove to boil, works just great (just make sure to keep it topped off)
I have long, fine hair, and am a static magnet, the cat is fluffy, we constantly shock eachother without extra moisture in the air during the winter.
