I've made some recommendations, but here they are clustered together:

Dewey This is a couple of years old, but a great story if you haven't read it. And it's supposed to be made into a movie starring Meryl Streep.

Dewey

There's a Cat in the Library! A children's book about Dewey as a kitten.

Homer's Odyssey The story of a blind black cat. This year's treat!

Homer's Odyssey

Simon's Cat If you liked the short videos, you'll love the book.

Simon's Cat

Dangerously Funny A new book about the Smothers Brothers Show. The tales behind the scenes, and why they got cancelled. If you remember the show, this will put the point on the i and cross the t's for you!

I have Homers Odyssey and so far it's good! Dewey has been on my to buy list for a while now! Maybe DH will be putting it under the tree this year! Not that I'm expecting to have time to read as much...

Almost my whole Christmas list consists of books...except for the clogs, of course. I haven't finished Dewey yet because I read several books at the same time and am also worried about a sad ending.

On the west side of... of... somewhere.
I have Dewey, read it last year and bawled my eyes out. I got the kids book for my friends son. He's a teen, but he has severe CP and mostly enjoys being read to, and it must have pictures. Since I couldn't read Dewey to him, I know he will enjoy this one. He loves cats (they have two). I have Homer's Odyessy, but I haven't had a chance to read it due to school reading. I should have time now, since my next two classes are just writing. I'm looking forward to it.

I want Simon's Cat... will have to get it when I get a paycheck again (been off due to my knee). I remember watching the Smother's Brothers... maybe they were repeats... but I can't remember... I loved them. I'll have to look at that one as well...
