I recently moved to a new area which I love...and the view from my "office" - aka the room I use the computer in is great - I have a lovely view of the river...but its also known as the river where murder victims (especially prostitutes) get dumped/bodies get found in.

This morning I woke up way too early so I am sitting here on my computer and watching the view from the window. So far, I have seen several police cars, one of those police command units...I hope there isn't another body in the river. Hopefully its a false alarm!

Yikes, what a thing to wake up to.

We live in a rural area. Years ago we woke to bloodhounds howling and police cars lined the road. It turns out the guy down the road killed his neighbor and threw his body in the creek which runs in front of our house.

Nasty stuff goes on all over.

Since it's summer there, it could just be a training exercise, i.e., the police and rescue teams preparing for boating or swimming accidents, especially over the holidays.

That is even more feasible! As you can see, I have an overactive imagination

I have looked online but there is nothing. I think Tricia is probably right, its just a training exercise.

Oh my! I would quickly jump to the most interesting conclusion as well.

I hope it's nothing serious. It's too bad that there's really no where in the world you can go to escape violence.

I immediately thought of Mallory Manning. I noticed they still haven't found her killer.

Nope and it will be a year tomorrow. It is so sad.

I always cringe a little when I hear sirens. It usually means someone is having a bad day. Hopefully, it isn't something really awful.

There hasn't been any news all day. So I think it is safe to say that it isn't something horrible. Like Tricia said, it is probably training/drills. They may even have been using the high school nearby as it is the holidays for high schools.

Now the more I think about it, I think it was probably a roadblock somewhere around there for breath testing. A lot of people here drink and drive, especially close to the Christmas holidays and they probably picked a road that people think no cops would think to look there. I have been breath tested twice on a road that could be considered a side route. Jake was breath tested a couple of days ago at 9am so I think thats what it was.

Wow, 9am breath testing! Gee, and I always start the day off with a martini or two....
