in the shoes?

I have an inside/outside cat. In the summer she spends most of her time outside and we occasionaly find remnets of her hunt on the porch. I don't mind and I figure she wants us to be proud of her skills. Once in awhile she gets by us at the door with a live catch. She'll drop the mouse and it runs off under a couch or refiderator. I always think great... now I have a mouse in the house. After a day or two we'll go to put on our shoes and find the mouse in a shoe alive. Not a good experience. Now that it's winter she stays in the house. Her day is busy with napping, watching the snow fall and hiding her toys in our shoes. Along with other little things she might pick up here and there. Such as a peice of wood from the wood pile or a wad of paper. I'm finding this a odd behavior. I was wondering if there is a reason why she has chosen our shoes for hiding her things.

She is giving you a gift! Sharing her catch as an expression of love!
