Feeding two "Adults"?

Ally turned 1 a few weeks ago. Ollie turns 1 in about 2 weeks. I am assuming that I should feed them as adults now?

Their nutrition up until now has consisted of Wellness brand Kitten Health (green bag) dry food and I also give them Wellness brand canned food. As for the canned food, they got tired of eating solely the kitten food (light pink can) a long time ago, so I've been feeding them the various adult varieties and figured they were getting plenty of nutrition between the kitten dry food (free-fed) and the canned food (also free-fed). Was this ok? I alternate the flavor that I give them daily so that they don't get bored. At the pet store I was told that this promotes spoiled behavior and that I should feed the same flavor, but I wasn't sure if that was bogus (and if it isn't, I guess it's too late). Is this true?

They both seem to be a healthy weight. I don't think either one is overweight. I went to the pet store to get their new dry food, but didn't realize that there is more than one dry food "series" by Wellness. I assume they don't need the "Healthy Weight" series as they aren't overweight. I'm confused between the "Indoor Health" and "Complete Health" series. Furthermore, the "Complete Health" food has two varieties. Are they only different in flavor?

Some help in picking an adult food would be appreciated.

imho stick with the kitten as long as they maintain good weights ... less carbs more protein and fat

I still consider 1 year to be a kitten - most still act kittenish. All cats are still still growing some at that age, too. Some of your higher end grain frees will read similar to some kitten foods anyways.

just curious on the subject...
If keeping the kitten kibble, can you still include adult canned or also stick with kitten canned? I feel that there are more varieties of adult canned than there are kitten. Neko's only 8 months but was just curious for the future.

I mix ... and my youngest is two the oldest is nearing 6 ... I still throw in a kitten can here and there... normally there is far less difference in canned kitten to adult as in the dry counterparts

1. Is it a problem that I alternate between all of the Wellness brand canned food adult flavors? I'm just curious if the pet store guy was right to warn me not to do so.

2. If I continue to feed them kitten (dry) food, when should I change over to an adult food, and when I change over to an adult food - which of the ones discussed should I change them to?

Oh, as for the canned food question, I meant is it a problem that I alternate between the flavors as a matter of creating spoiled behavior like the pet store guy said. I think he was saying that by alternating flavors, I'm creating some sort of expectation on the part of Ally and Ollie that could lead to a problem. I just don't know what problem he was referring to it creating.

As for what I think you're thinking - just a note - I've been feeding Ally and Ollie the adult (canned) formula since they were about 4 months old and throwing in a can of kitten (canned) formula when I could. They just seemed to not like the kitten (canned) food. I tried to give it to them when they would eat it, but that didn't seem too often (especially with Ollie). However, they have been on kitten (dry) food the entire time.

Oh, cats will get spoiled no matter what you do! But, I'm really thinking that if there's no medical reason not to switch flavors and textures around with the wet food, it might not be a bad thing to do- that way, in case the manufacturer changes the formula, or there's a bad case lot, or anything, the cats will at least have something else to eat they like - and you won't be introducing a new food out of the blue.

Before Dante had to do prescription Hills, I switched flavors around - we had a few weeks when no one liked chunk food for some reason, but no one seemed to hold out for flavor A over flavor B. But Sharky will have some good thoughts on the whole deal.
