Hi all. Adopted a 5 yr old tabby from the shelter about a month ago and she's been a wonderful addition to the family. Originally went in to look at another cat, but Gracie decided she had to come home with me, running over and marking all over my shoes/leg.

(She's not really as fat as she appears in the second pic, just needed to be brushed a bit.)

Here she is:

Thank you for choosing an adult kitty!
So many people would rather have kittens. Since you're a first time cat owner, an adult cat is the way to go.

I hope you stick around and post more, and share more pictures. Gracie looks like she's really at home and happy.

Yes, she has me wrapped around her paw.

The transition has been much smoother than I expected. Doesn't shed too much, no litter box issues. Occassionally decides I need to be up before the alarm clock goes off, but it's not a big deal. It's rather pleasant being awakened by a cat nuzzling you.

If you want to turn her into an alarm cat, it's not hard. Just get up and feed her as soon as you get up.

She's a beautiful girl.

Welcome to the world of being owned by a cat. Soon you'll be certifiably cat crazy.

Wow. Gracie sure knew what she was doing, running up to you!

Beautiful cat, and she looks so contented and all, "Yeah....I belong here."

I'm not home during the day, so I'd hate to think the mischief a kitten would get into. Gracie's been very calm and relaxed about the whole thing. It seems like she's been sticking to the cat toys and sleeping. (And sleeping a lot, based on the times when I'm home during the day.)
