I just got out of the bath tub (ha ha -- maybe that was too much info !) and got to thinking about the mop of hair atop my head. And, so...I thought maybe I'd post a little survey about hair and hair care. I know it's always a concern of mine and I figure maybe you guys and gals have similar thoughts and issues. What color is your hair (you can include your natural or dyed color)? My hair is a medium golden auburn color. It is not blond, it's not brown, and it has quite a bit of natural red in it. I recently had to ask my hairdresser as I really wasn't sure what to call my hair color and she said the above, so that's what I'm sticking with!
How long (or short) is your hair? My hair comes down just about to my mid-neck. I'm trying to grow it out to at least my shoulders, but it typically grows out rather than down

What is the texture of your hair? I have naturally wavy hair. And it's very, very thick.

) cut? I don't have a set schedule as to how often I get my hair done. I typically wait until I'm in the mood for it to be cut and then I usually chop it instead of just getting a trim. I guess you can say I'm a bit impatient about it all. But, in my defense, I am getting better with that and, this time, I'm hopeful I can keep my hair in check long enough that it can grow to about my shoulders before feeling the need to cut it all off.
What style is your hair? My hair is a long-layered cut with some razoring to lighten the weight of my hair (I have a ton of it). I also have a long fringe. My hair is parted on the left side and usually swept towards the right -- bangs included.
How do you most often wear your hair? I like to wear my hair down, but it's often unruly so I almost always have at least my fringe pinned back. It's finally long enough to pull back into a half ponytail, but I don't usually go that route unless I'm hot and/or at work. I do wear a lot of headbands, though. I definitely like accessories

How often do you shampoo your hair? I shampoo my hair every day. I shouldn't, but I have some OCD issues there, so...
Do you regularly use a conditioner? My hair is thick and often dry so I need to condition it regularly. I use a daily conditioner as well as a weekly deep-conditioner. I'm not a fan of leave-in conditioner though and try to stay very far away from it since it seems to weigh my hair down more than it already is. But, yeah, I'm a conditioner-aholic.
What shampoo and/or conditioner brand(s) do you use? I have a LONG list of shampoo and conditioners that I use. I'm big on rotating so that my hair doesn't get that product build-up gunk in it. Yuck! I hate that. Some of the brands I use most frequently are: Aussie Moist (I use the shampoo, conditioner, and, if I'm strapped for time, the shampoo + conditioner), Aveeno, Pantene Ice Shine, Loreal Pro-Vive, Nexxus Humectress (when I can afford it), and a couple of holistic-type, natural brands that smell yummy and make me feel special

Do you use other products in your hair on a day-to-day basis? I don't use other product in my hair unless I am going to a special event and have my done professionally. On very rare occasions I'll add some curl mousse or gel to help maintain my curl throughout the day, but it's naturally wavy so I usually don't have to go there. I don't like product in my hair...at all. I'd much prefer accessories.

Do you use other products in your hair on a day-to-day basis? Not daily, but weekly. Usually some leave-on conditioners like Schwarzkopf bonacure's 'sealed ends' to prevent split ends and some random brand color protect-sprays to make my hair more easily brushable

I'll trim the ends myself occasionally. I don't let anyone else do it cause I cannot stand people touching my hair. Plus salons reek - the smell of them makes me sick.

Usually down. Sometimes I'll put it up in a ponytail, clip, or braid it if I need it out of my way.

I don't shampoo it - all shampoos leave small bumps/sores on my scalp and make my hair thin more.
I wash it out a couple times a week and will use baking soda to do a scalp scrub around once a week.

Only a tiny amount on the very ends of my hair.

Sometimes one of the Sauve naturals for conditioner. Depends on what doesn't smell like rotten fruit or old lady smell.

very thick but each of the hairs is fine so I just have a lot of hair, curly, very much like afro hair (even though that's not what my heritage is, I'm eastern european), very frizzy and untame

I use different brands of conditioners, my favorite are herbal essences and sunsilk. For shampoo I use a sulfate/paraben free one from costco, or aveno, or cristophe

I use mousse, a molding paste/clay to get rid of flyaways and make baby hairs stay back and hairspray

Right now, the volumizing spray is SunSilk, the pomade is a brand called Stiff #$@& (something like that), and my hairspray is Down Under Naturals...I generally find that as soon as I find a product that works the way I want it to, it becomes very hard to find...so I am constantly changing brands and trying to find replacements...it drives me nuts and seems to happen EVERY TIME!
