We adopted a new kitty yesterday, she's just over a year old. Her previous owner had her on Wellness dry cat food. When I went to the pet store to pick some food up, there were a bunch of different kinds of Wellness brand foods to pick from. So I grabbed some Wellness wet canned food in a couple different flavors for now since I'm not yet sure what she likes.

I had planned to feed our new kitty both dry and canned food. I'd like to keep her on the Wellness dry food for now since that's what she's used to, don't want to stress her more than necessary since she's already stressed out at her new home. But I'm at a loss as to which Wellness formula to get. I've narrowed it down to Wellness CORE or Wellness Indoor Health (since she's an indoor only kitty). The Wellness CORE is grain free which I've heard good things about (just started doing my research on cat food this morning so I'm not sure how good grain free really is yet)... Then there's the Wellness Indoor Health for indoor kitties which is not grain free, but its meant for indoor kitties. So I'm not sure which one to get. Advice appreciated!

I would suggest the Core or the Regular adult... IMHO Indoors are too high in carbs and often too low in proteina and fat ..Core is a Wonderful food but many cats have poo issues on it . Wet food try a bunch and see what kitty likes best

Are you feeding the wet or dry?

If your feeding only dry she may be quite dehydrated which wouldn't be helping anything. The grain free foods tend to be more dehydrating than the high quality foods with grain. Dry food makes cats constantly dehydrated if thats all they are fed, they just don't have the thirst drive of other animals; they are really desert animals and where's the water in the desert? In their prey

Welcome and congratulations on your new kitty!

May i suggest keeping her on Wellness, and as Sharky suggested Regular Adult. I tried Core, and had poo issues since it was too rich. Then you could do grain free canned!

Before I switched to raw, my cats ate all the grain-free, fish-free canned Wellness flavors (as well as several other types of canned foods, including Evo and Nature's Variety). Dry kibble isn't actually all that good for cats (google "the dangers of dry foods"), so I'd go for all canned if I were you.

By the way, congratulations on your new kitty and welcome, welcome to the forum!!

I would feed 100% wet food if it's in your budget. Wellness is excellent.

If you are feeding dry, I'd stick with either Wellness Core or the regular adult formula (in a blue bag).

Wellness is an excellent brand. Congrats on the new kitty!
