I took all my ladies (4 HHP's) to the CFA show in Phoenix this past weekend, plus Merlin to show as an alter. I bought Merlin as pet quality, but the breeder said I could show him if I wanted. I didn't expect him to get anything, but I wasn't about to leave him home alone for two days in a row. I figured I wouldn't have a house left by the time I got home.
Merlin turned 8 months on Dec. 2, so he got to play with the big cats, which was probably good for him. There were a lot of kittens in the show. There were only 4 abyssinians in the alter class, 2 ruddy males, 1 ruddy female, and 1 blue male. The other ruddy male was Merlin's brother, whom the breeder is keeping as a show cat. The ruddy female took all of the Best of Color and most of the Best of Breed. Merlin kept getting 2nd place to his brother in the ruddy males.
However, out of 8 rings he did come in first twice and got 2 winner's ribbons.
Two of the judges also gave him 2nd Best of Color and one gave him 2nd Best of Breed.
He absolutely loved showing.
I pulled Cali after two rings, she was just too scared. I live close enough that I went home for Saturday night and left Cali at home for the second day of the show.
There were 28 HHP's, which is a huge number for them. It also makes getting into the final a lot harder. Out of 8 rings, Miss Patchwillow got one 10th Best Cat, Shareena got one 5th Best Cat, and Iris got a 10th Best, an 8th Best, and a 5th Best Cat in the finals.
Heather brought Willow (formerly Goldy) for the Saturday show only. (Heather had a huge final exam today and had to study all day Sunday). Willow made the final for the first ring, and got 2nd Best Cat
She didn't make any more finals, but Heather was excited about the one ribbon she did win. She definitely intends to enter Willow in more shows.
