This isn't exactly cat health, but I figured I'd post here as this forum gets more views than Other Animals. A family member's dog is sick and she can't afford a visit to the vet. I've heard some of you mention something called Care Credit (did a search, but no help). Can you elaborate on that - what is it, who is eligible, etc? Thank you very much.

it is a credit card , simliar to store cards ... has a promo no intrest period and can only be used at certain providers in their network... for me a great thing as the ER vet takes it and so does my back up vet clinic

Thanks for the quick replies!
So it doesn't really SAVE money, it just divides the cost into multiple payments? So instead of paying the cost of the entire vet visit up front, she can pay a little each month?

Is there an initial cost of getting the Care Credit card? How much is interest once the promo expires?

This is a credit card - exactly like it... Think like a no interest credit card if you pay within a certain period of time. So that period of time is the "promo".

There is NO upfront cost for applying, and no upfront cost for treatment.
He will use the card exactly as he would use a credit card, however this credit card is ONLY valid for MEDICAL and VETERINARIAN expenses....
That is what care credit is...
He can apply online, and if approved use his account IMMEDIATELY - he won't need to wait for the card...
Tell him to go to the site... all the info is in there...

here is a quote from the site:
CareCredit offers a full range of payment plans. Our 3, 6, 12, & 18 month No Interest* payment plans feature monthly payments as low as 3% of the balance and let you pay within the specified time without incurring interest charges. Simply make your minimum monthly payment and pay off your entire balance during the agreed upon time period, and you’ll pay no interest.

For patients/clients with higher treatment fees who would prefer more time to pay with lower monthly payments, our 24, 36, 48, & 60 month extended payment plans* offer a low, fixed 13.9% interest rate and an extended term.

My care credit can also be used at the dentist office.

As far as vets are concerned, it has saved me many times!
