Temperature conversion for the lazy!

From C to F:

Multiply x 2 and add 30.

So, 0 x 2 = 0. Add 30, and you have 30 degrees. Yes, I know 0 C is 32 F. We're talking balpark here.

20 C x 2 = 40, + 30 = 70 degrees F. Close enough.

From F to C.

Subtract 30 and divide by 2.

80 F - 30 = 50 divide by 2 = 25 C.

I learned all this living in Europe.

More metric points.

A liter is a generous quart.

A meter is a generous yard.

A kilometer is a little over half a mile. (6/10, in fact)

A centime is nothing.

A French franc is a fiction.

It's not that bad. Sure, if your bare skin touches the air for more than 2 minutes, you'll get frostbite, but other than that, It's not too bad
. You just have to wear 20 pounds of clothing. And you have to a good driver to get around up here. There's an accident at least twice a week in the winter. But other than frostbite and bad drivers, it's pretty nice here
.

I'd still love to be in Australia or New Zealand or Japan, but until I'm done school, that's out of the question.

With temps like those, do you even need to look at the thermometer? I think all you'd need to know is 1) Don't ever go outside and 2) If you absolutely positively have to go outside, wear every single piece of warm clothing you own.

As for us, we're at 45F/7C today. That's probably the high. It's about 10F below our normal high for this time of year.

Right now it is a nice day.. 60F / 16C. Blue skies with fluffy white clouds and sunshine. It rained during the night, so our air is clear.

The nights are starting to get colder, it's now -11c and it's raining somekind of ¤##%#%" between water and snow. I hate this..
I'm glad I have a warm, furry little kitty sleeping on my lap.

It got up to 70F/21C today. A little odd, but it'll be back to freezing soon enough.

I won't complain about it being cold here anymore!

Yesterday was actually lovely, or was that two days ago? Anyways - I went outside without gloves on & my hands didn't instantly freeze. I think it was 31F for awhile.

We have more snow coming tomorrow - it's actually lightly snowing now, sorta kinda maybe rain in there?

It is 53F right now, but is going to drop to 38. I hear it will get colder, we had a massive rain storm this weekend and it warmed up a bit. Last week we had 20 degree weather, but no snow. Its hard riding my horse in this weather because after some time I cant feel my feet or hands

28 F. and snowing. Yippee, I love the snow...not! It may be beautiful to look at but working at a farm it sure isn't beautiful to work in
Plus on farms snow tends to be brown (mud + snow or manure + snow)

I just noticed the thread, posted by a fellow Saskatchewanian. It's -45C this morning. This is way too cold for December, it's actually January/February weather.

I can't stand being this cold every day. Only good thing right now, we've only had a light dusting of snow when most years we have had the snow blower out a few times already.

Bring on Spring, I need the heat. I am going to the Dominican at the end of February with hubby. He goes for a conference and I go for my annual "no kids, no responsibilities" week off life
Hurry up and get here!!!!

Edmonton was the coldest place in the world yesterday, aside from a Siberian Weather Station. Its not warmer today. Yesterdays low was -46.1 C, without any windchill. It was -58 with....Heres how cold it is: You go outside, and your eyes water from the shock, they then stick together, as that tear has already frozen. Thankfully though, this cold snap is supposed to level out by the end of the week, Thursdays high is -1...so we are going to go from -30 to -1 in less than 48 hours. Apparently. We'll see what happens....as for me, Im staying inside as much as possible!

There's a few of us Saskatchewanians, but not enough. If it's this cold now, how cold will it be in January? Maybe it will be so cold we will be inducted into the Guinness World Records as the hardiest people in the world
.

There's been pretty much no snow at all this year. Just enough to make the roads icy.

Enjoy the Dominican. Maybe you'll see my parents there. They go there every year at about the same time.

I hate that feeling. Your eyes freeze shut, you mouth freezes shut, and your nose feels like it's about to fall off. I haven't had it too much here, but I was in Whitehorse for a while a few years ago. You know it's cold when as your getting the mail with a cup of coffee in your hand, the coffee turns into an ice cube.
