Anyone have any experience with them? Thinking very hard of getting one for mom who is always cold and her favorite spot to sit in the livingroom IS cold.

Looking at ceramic heaters. Quartz? Don't know. Needs a failsafe- auto shut off if it tips over, that kind of thing.

Just don't get the cheapest one..I had a cheap one and it over heated and the plug was burning hot. I think it was dangerous!

I've been using them in my place because my furnace is broken and I don't have the money just yet to get it fixed
anyway, I have 2 little $20 ones in my living room and even tho it's been in the 20s here lately they have managed to keep me warm and cozy. If you have a Lowe's near you I got 2 that even oscillate and they do have a shut-off feature so that if they get too hot they turn off and they also shut off if they tip-over... the name of the brand is Optimus

We have a small occilating floor heater for our bedroom. I think it cost under 50$ and it came from walmart. It has an auto-shut off feature and all of the coils are inside so there is no risk of anything touching the front and burning it.

I can't remember the brand name but it puts out a lot of heat
and has a digital display that makes it easy to set the temperature you want it to shut off/turn on at.

Our extremely old floor heater may not have been the safest as it was like 10 years old, but it had the auto-shut off if it was tipped over too, and also if it go too hot it would flash a red button and then shut itself off if you weren't around to shut it off.

I think most floor heaters have that automatic safety feature, unless it's something such as a kerosene heater.

My dad bought an Eden Pure and liked it so much that he bought another one. I had an oil-filled heater, but the Eden Pure was much faster, had a more stable shape (not prone to tipping over), and wasn't hot to the touch (doesn't burn skin).

I have one of the small cheap ones that tend to overheat. It keeps me very, very warm though. Yesterday I picked up another one, this time an expensive ceramic one that has a thermostat on it, and I used it last night, and I found that it wasn't making it warm enough for me. I returned it today and I'm going to try a few other kinds to see if I can find one that is better than the one I have. I need to be warm I need at least 85 degrees and the heater that I have makes it above 85 sometimes to a point where I feel soooo nice and warm I just want to doze off. But it's only good for my small bedroom so I want one that's a even better.

We have this one similar to this by Pelonis. It is a radiant dish heater. It has 2 heat settings with or without oscillating. If it gets tipped or bumped, it will automatically shut off. We have had it about 3-4 yrs now. I think it cost around $50 or so. It has only one dial though. Ours also adjusts in height.
