I've been fighting off some virus for the past couple days, just generally in a very poor mood, and today as I was getting supper going I noticed a weird hum. Upon furthur investigation, I found it was our furnace.

So I bundle up, go outside and check the vents (if snow is in them, it won't work)...no prob there.

I had wondered why my nose was cold all day...it was 65F in our house

So we had to call an after hours heating company, and it turns out that one fan was gone on the furnace. The fan itself was $575......plus the labour..... Came to bout $800

last thing I needed right now

Least we have heat now, thats a positive

That's not good!

But you're right, at least you will be nice and toasty now.

I'm sorry though

Wow - that wasn't cheap is right!
But if it's as cold up there as it is down here, you really didn't have a choice but to call an after hours place. Thank goodness it's fixed.

I remember..... I don't know how many winters ago. In the RV, here in this park. The electricity went down in the area. No electricity means no water (except from our fresh water tank through the pump on the 12V (battery) system) and no heat. Our heat is propane - but requires electricity to run the fan and to ignite the flame. Gary kept heating up the two cast iron skillets on the stove (that we could turn on) and walking around the RV waving them around to prevent it from falling below freezing in here. Hope that never happens again - he doesn't have the energy to handle that now!

I'm just glad it's fixed and you'll be warm now. It's too bad it happened and especially right now, when we're all freezing to death (well everybody in the snow belt).

Argh! It's always so expensive, and always happens after hours! I think they design them that way.
