In another discussion I saw someone had said that "by-products in canned food are not as bad as by-products in dry food".

Why is that? could you elucidate here? Thank you.

I can't find the reference, (though I think it was Sharky who said it?) it was in the c/d discussion thread, which has drifted a bit.

meat by products by AFFCO definition are cow, goat , pig and one escaping me at the moment...

In a canned form it is mainly organs and not unknown amounts of bone like in a by product meal in a dry food...

Are they great no , but I prefer organs ( of unknown orgin) over grains and a meal form in a canned food

I started due to cost cutting measures feeding a wet food with by products with little to no grain and NO veggies ... Results the cats who needed to gain : did ... the one who needed to loose about half a lb did ... the other 2 stayed the same.... Coat condition is much better only one has done any real shedding ... No herpes flare up s, no uti issues

I was feeding very high end wet s without by products other than liver and occasional giblets , they all had either grain or veggies or both.

Since these cats wont eat all raw ,the by products seem to work... they eat about 1-2 oz raw a week outside freeze dried
