It is driving me batty!!

My throat is not sore, I am not sick, there is no phlegm.

It is soooooooooo tickly! Like a dry tickle. I have to clear my throat every minute or so, just because it feels itchy in there.

I have been eating zinc/echinicea lozenges and drinking honey lemon water but nothing is making it go away!

Help me!! It is so annoying!

Get a mirror and either a flashlight or sit in front of a lamp. Check your tonsils and see if you see anything poking out. It sounds gross but one common non virus or infection cause of a throat tickle is tonsiliths.

If that's the problem you may be able to gargle them out, or just wait till it comes loose.

The other possibility is that you swallowed a Trout hair, cough from it and irritated your throat a little. I've had that happen before.

Mucinex DM. It is good stuff. I suspect that I am allergic to Thai, didn't have any problems until him. I get a tickle in my throat, especially when I am laying down, that is sinus drainage. It drives me nuts! If I take an Alavert at bedtime, I am able to breath through my nose (not just my mouth) when I wake up. The Mucinex helps the coughing, makes it productive instead of a dry hack.

I've had that before. Usually eating something helps me; like the process of swallowing something with more substance than a hard candy or tea helps. If it's just a dry tickle I usually go for butterscotch type candy. Like Worther's Original! YUM!

I know that feeling!! For me, when my throat is itching- it means I'm about to get a cold and it will fully attack sometime within the next day when my throat changes from just itching to sore...
I hope that isnt it, but it could also be lack of moisture in the air..

I've had that lately! I feel like I want to reach in there and scratch with a brush.
Since I'm not sick, and have no other cold symptoms, I'm assuming it's an allergy with me, also because my nose runs a little.

So, I take the generic version of Claritin (Loratadine is the generic name). One tablet does it for me for 24 hours, the itch is gone, there's no drowsiness and my nose stops running!

The lack of moisture in the air is how it started I beleive. I didn't leave my apartment all day Saturday until 8pm Sunday..so I was indoors for like 48 hours literally. Right now my place is very dusty and dry so I think that is what started it.

I am hoping just time will make it pass...I am breathing fresh air on a regular basis now

It is better today

Gargle with salt and warm water.
Baking soda is good too but I figured that's harder to find at work.

I agree with strange wings that it sounds like something in your tonsil. Is it on the side that tickles? It's gross but try tickling it with your finger VERY gently. Of course scrub afterwards.

^ You get those, too?
They're common in people who have tonsils, but some people never realize that they get them.

I get tonsiliths too they are soooo grosss I can't even describe how gross they are...but they've never caused any itching for me, just a feeling like I have a foreign object in my throat.
I think it's because my tonsils have a lot more holes than usual, I'm not sure why. Thankfully my gag reflex isn't bad so I am able to get them out with no problems. They aren't really big though just a tiny white speck, some of the google images I've seen are just
I want to get my tonsils out so I don't have to worry about them anymore but I'm too scared...

They get backed up sometimes. LoL It's not serious enough for surgery. Sometimes I can see the stuff there and sometimes I can't. I was going nuts once with the itch that I finally itched it.

Really it's just dead cells that don't flake off like the should. At least that is how the specialist explained it.

^ One could have slipped out while you were swallowing food or even in your sleep. They tend to irritate your throat when they're ready to pop out.
