If anyone can spare some vibes for our little seizure kitty it would be greatly appreciated. Monster normally has seizures when the weather changes (that is her main "trigger") but this morning she started when I was getting ready for work and had 2 more before noon. I called in late to work after the first one and ended up calling off completely once we realized she HAD to go to the vets. I gave her 1/2 a valium after the first one (I THINK she swallowed it) and tried to give her a phenobarbital in between the next 2 but most of that dissolved in her mouth so I'm not sure how much actually got into her system.

So, DH met me at the vets and they are keeping her overnight. They said her white blood cell count is up but they won't know anything about her blood panel (as in pheno level) until tomorrow because it has to be sent somewhere else by fedex. So she is on IV antibiotics and fluids and they're going to give her her pheno tonight via IV too.

So if you can spare a few vibes, prayers, whatever for Monster that would be great. I honestly thought they would say she had to be put down when we took her in today but there is still a little bit of hope. BTW, she is going on 6 and has been having seizures and on meds for most of her life.

Good thoughts for you and Monster. I have a seizure kitty too, I know how awful it can be.

Thanks for the vibes guys and sorry I didn't update sooner. Monster is staying one more night at the vets but should be coming home tomorrow. They FINALLY got her bloodwork back (had to send it away for some reason) and her pheno levels were fine so they aren't quite sure why she was seizing most of Monday morning. She did go into a seizure there on Tuesday but that could have been due to stress and unfamiliar surrondings (and break in her routine).

They wanted to keep her another night because after the one on Tuesday they gave her IV valium and apparently she was pretty much out of it until this afternoon. Now she's eating and seems to be comfortable (if not still a little stoned).

The thing is, they said that we should keep her on phenobarbital AND valium everyday from now on. Before we were only giving her valium when she was having a seizure to bring her out of it then up her pheno dosage for a few days. Obviously this wasn't working but having her on both constantly just makes her so stoned she can't walk, falls in her food bowl, loses control or can't make it to the litter box and makes a mess all over herself. That is no way for her to live. We may have some hard decisions to make after we get her home and see how she is.

But, that you very much for all the vibes...I honestly didn't think she would be coming home. I'll let you know how it goes.
