My friendâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s male cat had to be castrated due to having a really bad stone in his urethra that couldn't be fixed any other way. Post surgery he has to be on that special food you can only get at a vet's office (you know, the super expensive stuff...) to keep him from getting another stone. Well, he's also had a constipation problem for a few yrs and it's been getting worse. He's probably had 12 enemas in the past 6 months. He's been on large doses of lactulose (about 4x what we ever gave our previous cat when he had constipation issues), and pumpkin but still major issues that we know will lead to megacolon.

Does anyone have any tricks they've used to treat constipation? Any ideas would be appreciated.

Is he eating wet or dry? If he's eating dry, try to increase his intake of canned food.
