Hi, my 17 year old male cat has completely stopped eating on his own yet continues to drink. He looks 'dazed and confused' most times however recognizes me immediately, purrs when I pet him or talk to him, allows me to feed him pureed food via a medicine dropper and he is having no issues using the litter box. He sleeps 99% of the time. Might he have had a stroke? He was otherwise 'perfect & normal' up until 2 weeks ago. Thanks.

he needs to go the vet right away. He can die quickly if you don't.

How much food are you able to feed him? Is it a normal amount based on his weight, or is he also losing weight? Depending on the amount of food he is eating, it could be immediately life threatening. Thus the advice for you to get him to an ER vet.

I've had elderly cats that have had strokes and there is typically some motor function lost afterwards, and they often do things such as limp, walk in circles, their heads may tilt to a side, or one side of their face will droop. What you are describing to me is not due to a stroke but to some other illness.

Have you taken him to your vet? If so, what did your vet say, and if not, then you need to get him in ASAP. Not eating is a sign of a very serious illness.
