I have 5 indoor cats......one has a hairball issue IMHO. I have researched Petromalt on this site and have not came up with anything recent. Is this product good enough or should I go to another product for "hairballs" for Simon my Siamese?
The label says "mineral oil" 44% ........ Is that the same? Do I use butter? Is one brand of butter better than anothers? Thanks.Originally Posted by sharky
it contains peterolum jelly ( trade name vaseline) ... it does NOT allow for absorbtion so use as little as you can...
Butter in my house works well
Where do I get "Sweet almond oil" ???????Originally Posted by GloriaJH
Sweet almond oil, Sweet almond oil, Sweet almond oil.
I use an online store - if you order a certain amount you get free shipping, and their service is the best!Originally Posted by Slave2_Ragdolls

This is the store page for Sweet Almond Oil. They have a smaller size, too.
This is the brand I use, there are others, just browse the store.

I just put a couple of drops on the food plate and he licks it up - failing his cooperation - a couple of drops on a paw will probably do the trick.
Olive Oil is another safe product. Here's just one link that talks about it. http://www.ehow.com/how_2191162_use-...hairballs.html

As always, check with your vet regarding the use of almond oil, or virgin olive oil, etc.I'm not a vet, just sharing what is working for me and my household of cats.I just know that anything vaseline, or anything I wouldn't ingest, isn't what I'd use, especially after reading about the problems it can cause.
