Hi y'all, I'm so excited to find this forum dedicated to rescue! I was just curious about other people who foster cats for rescues/shelters and how many you usually have at any given time. Right now I am literally being overrun by kittens. Seriously. They just keep coming and I can't turn them down! I'm slowly learning how to say no, but it is so hard!

Currently only two. I used to be able to foster more, but I've kept too many "unadoptable" fosters or adopted cats about to be euthanized to foster so many anymore.

Well I had four foster kittens, but considering they are now over a year old and I've had them since they were 3 weeks I'm pretty sure I cannot claim they are fosters anymore.

I did manage to get three of the kittens from their litter of 7 adopted to good homes but the other four ended up staying with me and now I am too attached.

Currently none, but that hasnt always been the case. However I cut back on fostering as Scully got older and with a new cat in the house, am letting them all get used to him first.

At the shelter its very rare we will ask people to foster more than one litter at a time

Do you mean the ones that are actually fosters, or the ones that started out that way? We took Jeeves back Monday and he got adopted Thursday. But Ella is still here (and officially ours) for well over a year now.

Haha, actually fosters I guess. One of my fosters, Sienna, I knew from the first day I was keeping. I do have a foster kitty that has been with me for quite a while and considering that she is a black cat and pretty much an adult now she could be with me for quite a while longer. The rest of my fosters are young kittens (with the exception of a nursing mama) and as soon as they are old enough to be neutered I expect them to get adopted fairly quickly. The 2 I have that just got fixed are actually being adopted tomorrow by a lady that saw them on Petfinder!

During this last year I have had a total of 19, three litters of five each, and some individual ones. But they have all gone now, mostly adopted, though three died and five are still in the shelter waiting for families. My daughter adopted two, so I still see those regularly (and they have even been back to stay for a 'holiday'!) Hopefully I won't have any more till next kitten season.

I've had a total of 14 this year, but not at the same time. I currently have four kittens and their mama. Three of them are actually adopted, and are waiting to go home!

Stripe,Patches and Smokey.
My sister kept Simba and my brother kept Whitey and Pookie.
Sadly they have all died but had a great life with us.
