Sadie's a Schnauzer!

Well, between 30 and 70% of her is. The rest is Black Lab, Shetland Sheepdog, English Springer Spaniel, Poodle (!) and Pomerianian (!)

Four of her five mixes are prone to eye diseases, so that may explain her prolapsed tear gland (which has been fixed and is looking beautiful).

This DNA stuff is too cool!

how is she healing?

Fantastically! We have already been on three "long" walks (about half a mile each). We have a little route we follow and the first time I took her out after she came home, she headed straight there.

Thanks for asking!

wow! That's really neat! She sure has a little bit of everything doesn't she hope she heals up quickly!

Do you have a photo of Sadie you can share with us?
She is a very special girl.

No - I haven't figured out how to do it yet. I save my photos on my hard drive (not any online service), so I am still trying to figure out how to upload them to the site.

Sadie's black (wth a Lab's greasy waterproof coat) but she only weighs 25 pounds. I see NO schnauzer in her at all, nor really any of the other breeds. Her snout is longer and thinner. Her ears are shorter and round like a Lab's.

As soon as I can, I'll get a pic online. I also want to post pics of the houses I build for feral colonies.

I am sending you a private message about how to use a hosting site to link your photos here.

She always puts her ears back when the camera comes out. She's really a lot cuter than these pictures but she seems afraid of it. I guess we'll work with her on it.

Sadie is precious.
her eye looks really good post surgery.
She is one very lucky girl to be under your loving care.

In all honesty I wouldn't put too much trust into those DNA test things. I person on another forum who has a pure bred certified Am Staff did one of those and the results were rather funny. Check out this video

She's an adorable dog though, glad the surgery worked well!

I don't have faith in those either. I saw the one of the lady with the Am Staff and someone on one of my forums has a very large dog, probably with Great Dane and pointer, and his "DNA test" came back with him as a purebred Pomeranian.

The eye surgery made such a difference!

Mollysmom's said I don't have faith in those either. I saw the one of the lady with the Am Staff and someone on one of my forums has a very large dog, probably with Great Dane and pointer, and his "DNA test" came back with him as a purebred Pomeranian.

NOW that's funny lol

Sadie is a cutie.

Shame about those DNA tests not being reliable. I thought that was so cool you could do that these days.
Sadie is a sweetheart. Her eye looks great now!

Well, Sadie is a cutie no matter what breeds she has in her background. If anyone asks you what she is tell them she is a pure bred dog, her mother was 100% dog and so was her father.

I can see the schnauzer and the black lab. I see schnauzer in the nose and ears. Dunno maybe its just where I'm around them so much! Maybe a little bit of sheltie. Does she have the attitude of a sheltie?

Capt Jordie: Is the Shetland Sheepdog also known as a Sheltie? - I get confused. I haven't researched each breed extensively yet - what are the characteristics of a Sheltie?

I'm glad somebody see Schnauser because I just wasn't sure.

I was actually kind of surprised that there was no pointer in her - she points at everything. She seldom barks - if she sees something, her nose goes out and the front paw comes up. The funny thing is, if we don't pay attention, she will actually turn around and snap her lips together, as if she's saying, "Hey, over here!" It's quite comical but she means business!

I was hoping knowing her breed(s) would help me understand her better but it really doesn't matter. We're getting to know one another quite well.

Yeah Shelties are actually Shetland Sheepdogs! They are herding dogs so they have a bit of an attitude! LOL!
