Starting to get frustrated...

I have been putting off posting because I didn't want to jinx myself again. About a month ago I was going to adopt a Siamese mix named Ringo. He became critically ill and passed away before I could even bring him home. That day the shelter got in two more Siamese/mix kittens. I went ahead and adopted the male and another girl adopted the female. They are both with the females mom...she is fostering them both until they weigh enough to have surgery. Originally I was told he would be ready by December 3rd. sadly on Saturday he still needed to gain 4 ounces. Now they are saying it may be December 22nd.

How long does it take for a kitten to gain 4 ounces? The shelter thinks they are about 10 weeks old now. I have no idea what they are currently eating. I have visited him twice. Once in his first foster home and once in his new foster home ( his sister's forever home). I asked if I could "foster" him myself until he's ready, but the shelter thinks they should stay together until he's ready to have surgery.

Meanwhile, the foster mom has been getting them medical care out of her own pocket. I'm grateful for that, but at the same time I don't know what to do. I paid the adoption fee that was supposed to include all the testing , shots, and surgery. The "mom" says she doesn't mind doing it, but it still makes me feel bad. I can't afford to pay her back for all the tests, shots, etc. that were supposed to be included in the adoption fee.

This is ridiculous. I hope the baby boy gains some weight soon. Habibi has gained 4 ounces in the last week alone, but he's a big fat baby now, who was under nourished. He's also gets lots of Kitten milk replacer too, so I imagine all that extra fat is contributing to his weight gain.

I think it's partly genetics too, because Smudge was getting all kinds of extra food and he's still rather skinny and lanky like his mom.
