I don't know if he just isn't feeling well and this will pass or what. I know that I'm worried.

I've recently rescued three kittens and had all but one fixed and vaccinated.

My 1 year old cat, Tobee, has recently had a severe change in mood and behavior. He is lethargic, often looks sleepy and is walking very gingerly. Just a little while ago, he couldn't jump up onto the counter where he usually eats his food. He's been laying all over the house away from everyone. He is laying in the cat carrier for goodness sakes... it's a chore to get him to go near on nail trimming days. He has also thrown up. The thing is, he is a rambunctious, happy and adventurous cat so this behavior is weird.

Should i just get up and take him to the emergency vet? This is day two of this behavior or should I wait another day? He is still eating and drinking... I'm worried, he's my baby... what could it be?

One of my cats recently stopped jumping up onto anything, even onto the "cat table" to eat. And he was growling at the girl cats. It turned out he had a huge abcess on his side that burst, which was the cause of his pain. Have you checked out his body? Any little bite or scratch from a claw can turn into an abcess...

Since this is day two, I vote yes, if you have the means and an an ER vet close to you, DO take him. I would...
Good luck!

An abcess is a painful infection site that forms around a cut, slice, or puncture wound. The eventual infection can cause immobility, fever, lethargy, and many of the symptoms you are describing. I'm not 100% sure on this, your vet should be able to tell you. If you can't get him to somewhere tonight, I recommend making an appointment first thing in the morning.

Be sure to try and look for a possible infection site anywhere on his body. If he goes outside or is around other cats, I'd suggest looking around his rear because that's where a lot of cats get them in fights or squabbles.

No one can say safely what it is until he is at the vet.

If it is indeed an abcess, then he will likely be kept for a surgery that involves draining/trimming/cleaning of the abscess, stitching up the wound, and treatment for infection. It always varies with every cat and how severe the wound is.

Again this site is not completely authoritative, all we can do is give you tips and tell you what to expect through our own experiences. You know your cat best, as does your vet. Be sure to get him there at the latest by tomorrow morning.

I hope that your kitty's issues are fixed and that he gets better soon!

Alright, other things that can have happened:
Do you have plants in your house? Any plants? Is there anything he could have eaten? look around in the floor - are there cabinets open he could gotten into? Chemicals? You said he vomited - how was the vomit - was there food in it?
Has he eaten after he vomited? Is he still drinking (after vomiting?)? Does he have Diarrhea?

Is re responding to you? If you put him up, does he stay? If you give him food, does he eat? How lethargic is he? Has he been like this for these FULL TWO days?

This is an emergency situation.

My fear is that this cat has a urinary tract blockage and is in severe pain and distress. Please if you haven't by now, get him to the vet immediately.

A male cat will die usually within 24 hours after blocking, and it is a terrible death.

Cats are masters at hiding pain. By the time they begin to show the signs you describe, they have already been ill for quite some time. He needs immediate attention, I do hope you've brought him in by now.

Please update us when you can. We care.

The symptoms you describe are definitely not normal and is a sign that your cat is sick. Since cats are so good at hiding anything wrong with them it's usually something really wrong when you start seeing drastic symptoms. To me it sounds like he may have been poisoned by something, like a plant maybe. It could be a number of things though.
I would take him to the e-vet. If it's absolutely impossible please take him in when the vet opens tomorrow morning.

When people post about sick cats, especially when they haven't taken them to the vet, and then disappear I get a really bad feeling. It's a kindness to the people on here who tried to help to let them know what's going on. Please.
