My left boob has been sore for a few weeks. I was PMSing last week, but it was sore even before that.

Usually they both get a little sore before my period. But the left one has been moreso, and sometimes with a little sharpness.

It also feels swollen and more firm if that makes sense. There are no lumps or bumps or masses that I can feel.

I am also not pregnant. I should also mention that I have just recently begun taking fitness classes..so 3 times a week there is extra "bouncing" that my body is not used to.

Are they sometimes more sore than other times? Or should I get it checked out?

It's weird that both of them aren't sore. But are you sure you aren't pregnant? The swollen/firm thing really sounds like a symptom. Either way, I'd call the doctor to check it out.

I took a preggo test about a week ago and it was negative. (We are not trying, but I missed a pill and was worried)

I would call a Doctor, but I have to say in my own experience maybe itâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s your body changing. Iâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]m getting all sorts of surprises I never expected as I age, it seems every few periods brings a new (not so great) surprise lol.

One of my changes included sometimes having only one breast hurt, it swelled larger then the other, and it occasionally had stabbing pains. I have odd boobs though, im not sure of what its called but I have cysts all throughout my boobs so maybe thatâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s why I get to many surprises as I am aging.

I would get it checked out just to be sure though.

Any other ideas? I am actually worried about this.

I see the silly thread about the male question is super busy so that's good.

I'm sorry you're so worried
I really have no idea what it could be...Sometimes I find that what I'm eating or drinking affects random soreness in my breasts..but I don't really remember if it has happened before where only one has been sore..
If you feel like it's not going away on its own for a few days, you should really get it checked out

Nat:

Check this thread: http://www.thecatsite.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=208009 All sorts of reasons for breast discomfort in there.

If it would help, call the health line..... they are nurses, and can tell you whether you should see your doc.... (pm me if you need the number)

My boob soreness varies based on: time of the month (period or ovulation), too much caffeine ( I have a pea sized cyst in one and caffeine really gets it aggravated), bouncing (as in more exercise) or a new bra. (all of the above can affect one or both breasts...'cept in my case with the cyst...)

If you are worried call to make an appointment with your OB/Gyno. I never had issues though I am lacking in that department.
Mom has a few calcium cysts and at times they hurt more than others. Her right breast especially. Which one is it? Do you drink a lot of coffee? My one doctor said ladies who drink A LOT of coffee are susceptible to cysts.

It worries me that only one is this sore. Could you have hit it or bumped it while exercising, like on a machine handle or something? Even a slight trama to the breast can cause pain, especially if it is right before your period. You may have also pulled a chest muscle under there and the girl is reacting to an inflamation. I would definitely get it checked out. You also could be developing cysts. How old are you....if I remember right, late 20's early 30's? The early 30's is when my body started going crazy, as in weird things like that. I got mine check out with a mammo, but you may also be able to do an ultrasound if a mammo isn't available, just to see what's going on.

That doesn't mean much, and you can miss them, too, if they're small.

Better safe than sorry, call your doctor.

I can't add more to what's already been suggested, but the main thing is if you are worried about it, you should make an appointment to see your doctor. Gee, nothing like a breast exam when it's sore!
I think the fact that you've been working out lots has probably got something to do with it.

It that's all that it does turn out to be, I think it's been a couple years since the last bra thread on here. You could start a new one.

I think I'll wait until after my "cycle" as maybe it will get less sore afterward. Then if it doesn't feel better I will call the doc.

Breast pain is quite common because of our hormones. Did you recently change birth control pills? Get a birth control injection?

Just apply ice a few times per day. Yes ice! It helps decrease swelling. Also take Tylenol and Aleve together. The 2 medications taken together give very good pain management.

Another thing you can try is Evening Primrose Oil. It's very good for breast pain/discomfort.

You might also want to look into a proper fitting sports bra if you are doing physical activity that will cause your breasts to bounce. The bouncing causes trauma to the muscles which could be a contributing factor to the discomfort.

Caffeine can also cause painful breasts. Try switching to decaf and clear colas

Thanks Linda...I have always only had one and a half coffees per day so no change there..and also no change in BC pill.

But maybe its the bra thing. I have never in my life done so much fitness classes and they are very bouncy so that might be it.

I wonder if you're doing some type of exercise that would stress one side more than the other?

If it continues though, it wouldn't hurt to get checked out, just so you don't have to worry about it

I''ve done exercise stuff that stresses the girls. I forgot to check it the breast that is on the dominant side of your body. What I mean is I'm left handed so somethings I could over exert on my left side. Is it the actual breast or underneath where you might have pulled a muscle??

As to the sport bra when I was professionally fitted the fitter said a well fitted regular bra can be worn for exercise but I actually disagree and prefer a sports bra (not the compression fitting ones though).

I actually have pain in the left one and my dominant side is right. I wonder though if my left side is sore because It doesn't get used as much

Also, maybe I do need a better bra..but mine are good ones, they are Reebok.

Um, are you SURE you aren't pregnant? Sometimes the tests can show a false negative or it could just be too early to detect from an at home test. Maybe you should go to the OBGYN to double check? I'm worried too since you said you missed a pill. I hope you feel better soon!
