In honor of the approaching holiday season, I would like to know when do you put up your tree? Or when do you start to decorate?

For our Jewish members, can you educate me on when you start celebrating? If theres decoration involved?
I really don't know the traditions of other cultures.

Our tree is about the only decorating we do, and it will be going up this weekend

I only decorate outside, lack of room and all in the trailer.
Traditionally, my family decorate the day after Thanksgiving, but we have to wait to dig our Christmas stuff out of storage.

I don't do a tree at my house mainly because Linus has a Tarzan Complex
(some day I will tell the Linus vs the Spider-Plant Story)

The other two would completely ignore it well Sassy would, Pixie would try and eat the ornaments.

However, that being said I generally spend the Christmas Eve, at my brothers who has a huge tree, and then everyone congregates at my sister's whom lives in our Family Home for Christmas dinner and she loves to decorate I think she starts the day after Halloween.

My family decorates usually the weekend after thanksgiving...
I have jewish friends and they decorate with a menorah, which is very pretty IMO, and give me hannukah candy

I haven't put a tree up since my grandmother passed away 10 years ago. I got Cleo that summer, and she was a holy terror, so I didn't want to chance it. A year later I got Maggie, and she's never outgrown chewing on electrical cords....I'm sure she'd either destroy the tree, or electrocute herself.

I will probably put mine up this coming weekend. Its a 4 ft tree that sits on the table. I don't really do any other decorations.

I usually put a wreath on the door and that's about it. My cats wouldn't let a tree survive and I don't really have a lot of visitors who would see my decorations, so I don't really bother. I'll probably help my parents put up their tree and the wreaths in their windows this weekend.

Usually we put up decorations the day after Thanksgiving but I have been sick/working and I am the only one who will put things up. We have the tree up, just needs to be decorated. We put lights outside too, but my dad doesnt want to this year
so well will see.

I put a small wreath up, and a small (2 foot!) tree, which will likely be up this weekend! I decorate as much as I can for my small apartment, replacing things like coasters and candle holders with more seasonal varieties.

My birthday is Dec 13th and growing up my birthday and Christmas were often combined. Call me childish, but my parents and my sister's birthdays are all in different parts of the year, away from Christmas and I always wished I had a "special" birthday like they did. Rather than it get forgotten about or blended in with a major holiday. Many years, even still, I get Christmas themed items for my birthday. Would you get someone whose birthday is in March or July Christmas themed items? Last year the only thing my mom got me was an entire set of Christmas dishes (like what you put food on). Not to sound ungrateful, but it wasn't something we would ever use.

Anyway...sorry about the rant...the rule in our house is that nothing Christmas can be put up until after my birthday. We usually don't end up putting our tree up until a couple days before Christmas, probably the weekend before, but I do put our nativity set and what few other decorations we have up before the tree.

Anytime after Thanksgiving we decorate. I do the basement in our snowmen theme and Mom has her theme upstairs. I somehow get stuck doing upstairs too. That's a two full day event. The closet we store the decorations is tiny and a mess. It takes one day to sort through what we need and move the other stuff.

Our stuff is in two small boxes and we keep it in storage. I haven't started yet b/c Mom is off Thursday for a week and offered to babysit.
I know that is her way of asking me to do upstairs too.

I usually decorate on the weekend closest to December 1. I went to get out our tree, only to find my dear sweet husband threw out our artifical tree. Apparently he hated it. So I have to wait until we buy a new one. I would like a real tree, but I am allergic to them. The kids all told Dh how unhappy they were with him, so I am sure he will buy one very soon.

I want to hear it, too!

We used to put up a Christmas tree and a few lights the day after Thanksgiving, but Polly is another Tarzan kitty.
Now we just put lights up on a leafy tree that already lives here and is ignored and call it a day.
