More then likely a UTI (infection) - get her to the vet in the next day or so. With females its not life threatening like it would be for a male, but they do need to be treated with antibotics.

They are painful, so the sooner you can get her to the vet the better. We're dealing with this with our Spooky right now. Could also be cystitis, which is more difficult to figure out how to treat. So it's a UTI (which clears up pretty quick with antibiotics).

Believe it or not, a UTI is actually fairly uncommon in cats. The most common reason for blood in the urine of a female cat is interstitial cystitis. There are a few different treatments available. Sometimes it will go away on its own after a few days but I always recommend a vet visit right away as it is very uncomfortable.

Hope she does ok!

Kiwi currently has idiopathic cystitis (blood in urine with NO crystals or bacteria in his urine) ..... here's his thread:

As mentioned, it can go away on its own, but it can also lead to blockages or severe spasms causing intense pain.

Kiwi's been back into the vet and given more anti-spasmatics + anti-inflammatory.

Good luck

That's interesting! I as a human have IC, I had no idea cats could get it too. When it flares it is very painful.

To the OP: Hope your kitty gets better soon.
