I don't know why, but I was just listening to my iTunes when I suddenly got an idea. It was the most random thing that ever happened and I just started a few minutes ago and I've written 3 pages. It's flowing so nicely. I'm good with English, but I never thought that I would write a book. But now here I am. I just all of a sudden thought "I think I'll write a book to pass the time"
. Anyone else ever suddenly get the urge to do something crazy and impulsive?

I drove 15hrs away to see a friend in need with about 1hr of deciding to go (as in I said at 2ish that I was going to go see her, left my house at 3ish). Thats about as impulsive as I get.

Good luck with you book

Thanks. I hope I can keep it going. With my luck, I'll wake up tomorrow and be completely lost
. If/when I finish it, I'll post a synopsis on here and e-mail it to anyone who may be interested.

My crazy and impulsive usually involves spending too much money on something that I don't need.

But this is much better.

Well we can hope. If I don't like it, I'll do the same thing Stephen King almost did. He hated his first draft of Carrie and threw it out. His wife found it and saved it and got it published. If it weren't for that, Stephen King probably wouldn't be a writer.

Good job for you!!

Just remember that when you feel like giving up, push it through the chapter and you can always go over it later and fix it. ^^

I have written two books in my life, both were written in highschool and were pretty popular among my classmates.
Now lately I have felt like going back and typing the other one up on the computer and refining it to see if I can make anything good out of it.

Most of the things I do in life are impulsive. Planning or thinking about stuff in advance is no fun

Good luck with the book

Write for a couple of hours every day. You'd be amazed at how well you can write, if you do it that way.

Literary experts say that everyone has one good non-fiction book and one good novel in them, if they'll just write it. Of course, if you write one, you may quickly discover you're full of them.

I generally get ideas for stuff to draw or paint when I'm listening to music - sometimes some very weird ideas.

I have a couple mental pictures stuck in the back of my mind that I need to pull out and put on paper when I have time to.

I hope your writing goes well.

BTW: What were you listening to when you were inspired?

Over the river and through the woods...
Go with the inspiration! I minored in creative writing, and while I have a lot of ideas, none have actually sparked the need to start writing so congrats!

A few words of advice. I agree, write everyday and save it. Even if you don't like it the next day, it lets the words flow. If you see a scene in your mind that may happen later on in the story, write it then. It may need to be tweaked or tossed out all together depending how the story goes but at least it will be there.

I won't tell you what it's about just yet. I'll see if I can make it all work first. But hopefully in the end it will be a little bit like Michael Chrichton's Sphere meets Mike McQuay's Escape from New York.

I was listening to Out of the Silent Planet by Iron Maiden
