I had stopped for a break on my journey to see my friend, and this tractor trailer pulls in behind me hauling this old fashioned steam engine. I thought it was pretty neat, and apologise for the not great pics..... it was nighttime and I was getting tired.

There's a big get-together every year in central Iowa where they actually run those things around.

Very neat.

I had never seen one like this.... the truck driver didn't mind my pics, but he was in a hurry to use the facilities so I didn't get to ask him anything. Tho I don't know if he'd know, he was probally just transporting it.

I've seen old tractors, and some steam engines, but nothing like this.

Did you happen to see a name plate on that tractor?? I love steam powered tractors and locomotives. Happiness for me was a chance to get up close and personal with a Royal Hudson a few years ago.

mrblanche, why did you have to post that link?? I now feel obligated to read the whole thing

What a cool old engine.
I love things like that.

We used to have an annual event here for them too, but state regulations for steam boilers apply to them as well, and the regulations were mainly to push boilers out of use, so, they're almost impossible to meet. So, the traction engines and steam gizmo's had to go somewhere else.

I'm not sure.... Here's a pic of just the plate, I can't read it other than the Waterloo part.

It says "Waterloo Manufacturing Company Limited"

The manufacturing is abbreviated to "Manuf'g"
