Well turns out Peaches is very aptly named. It started out with her stealing the leftovers from my toddler's breakfast every morning (it started with just lapping up milk which she loves). Last week she ran off with a couple orange slices...

This morning she ate 1/4 of a MANGO!???
(good thing we renamed Oscar!!
)

I thought cats are supposed to HATE citrus??
WHAT is wrong with my Peaches?
(I mean, we know she's weird, but this is REALLY strange...!)

I can't find anything about then being ooisonous
.

We used to have a cat that LOVED cherrios and corn (Benson
) and we thought he was strange, but Peaches makes him look perfectly normal!!

I forgot to mention she did ONCE eat Peaches... It was quite entertaining...

A friend's cat will sell her soul for canteloupe, in fact, given the choice between the melon and a nice piece of meat, the melon wins every time. Da Magpie has a thing for soda crackers, Da Lip loves nacho cheese Doritos and I once had a cat that loved green olives. They do pick up odd habits living in houses, mostly from food dropped on the floor accidentally or thrown by a toddler. Forgot to add, I have several barn cats that help themselves to the horses' beet pulp and two that will eat on the stuff until they are full.

See the cheese I can understand, even the crackers because of the salt - Melon? That is STRANGE.

But BEET PULP!!?? Maybe because it's warm but you'd have to pay me a whole lot to actually eat the stuff :p (incidentally I have tried small amount accidentally - it's not yummy!)

Allen likes beer, so much so that I have to keep a hand on the bottle at all times (and forget about using a glass, there'd be no keeping his face out of it).

I've seen him lay full-length just out of reach of the bottle. Then s l o w l y stretch a single paw out, s l o w l y hook that paw around the base of the bottle and s l o w l y pull said bottle toward him.

It'd be freakin' hysterical if it wasn't so old by now. Never in a million, million years would I have thought I'd have to fight my cat for every beer I drink!

Fruit, especially citrus, does sound a bit odd. My Tomas makes the ickiest looking face if you even get something orange scented near him - the other cats aren't that fond of the smell, either.

If in doubt, ask your vet. That's what they're there for.

Be careful what foods she's taking off with so there's no risk of GI upset or possible toxic issues (garlic and onion).

He he he - the little man doesn't tend to have onions or galic for breakfast!
That's really the only time I have this problem with her. When I'm too busy chasing around the toddler, getting him dressed and such, and abandon his breakfast for a few minutes
.

Peaches DOES get in trouble if she goes after things before he's finished though
.

Cats are supposed to HATE oranges, in fact that's supposed to be a good way to deter them from your garden. I guess Peaches is the exception because she was draging her slices around & meowing like she'd caught a mouse!

Auntie - my SON is the same way!!
Everytime people come over & have a beer I warn them to watch their drinks, of course they never believe it until I'm diving across the backyard because the little man is about to take a swig! From then on I find people actually cover their drinks

RE: cats liking melon/cantaloupe. My BF's rainbow bridge kitty liked cantaloupe. Near as I can figure is that melon can have a kind of musky smell that isn't as noticeable to us.

My son has a cat who loves corn husks! Not the corn or the cob, but the uncooked green husks. She even crawls into the fridge looking for them! Very weird.

Riley has never heard that cats aren't supposed to like citrus either

He goes nuts for mandarin oranges and pineapple chunks and he will crawl into my plate after dill pickles
