I post earlier (please can someone give me an answer?) about tyler.. to get history please read that post...anyway he had the surgery friday and he came home yesterday. he has peed on himself twice and i understand he is probably in terrible pain. But has not ate or drank anything at all. He goes back tomorrow for a recheck and if he does not eat or drink by then I am asking for him to stay with IV's until he heals more. I think he has been sent home to soon. I wonder if i should give him nutrical..i just am afraid to make him throw up with all those stitches. Any opinions or suggestons

I'm sorry I don't have any advice, but I'm just reading about Tyler's surgery and just wanted to say that I'm so glad he had the surgery ok. I'm sending tons of healing vibes his way

the only thing i can think off is giving a vet a quick ring to see what they say whether they want to see him any sooner than tomorrow with him not eating or drinking anything

Well, its 7:30 p.m.... and Tyler still has not ate or drank..i have him in a cage and he hates it..but i did it for his own safety.. he has over a 6 inch incision. I am scared he is gonna break it open. He is going to the vets in the morning and we will see what he wants to do. They said he might not eat well for a few days but I would think by now he would be a little hungry. All together he has not eaten in 6 days except for the IV fluids. I am not sure if i should force it or just leave him be..he did get up and use the litter box. So i guess thats a plus!!!

Tyler finally ate a little..thats a good sign and he is peeing in the litter box. He has watery poo and that was all over the cage but it looked like he tried to get it in the box..he is a big cat so this little litter box is not wha the is use to...He is going to the vet in an hour so, I will see if he can roam the house a little bit. But finally things are looking up...Hooray!!

Poor Tyler. He probably feels pretty crappy and has no appetite. He will do okay without eating for a while but he has to get fluids. Cats can only go a short time without fluids. You don't necessarily have to leave him there if he needs sub-q fluids. It would probably be enough to bring him in once a day to give him what he needs.
Could you maybe keep Tyler in the bathroom or a small room instead of the cage while he's recovering? In my opinion it's pretty important that he's happy and comfortable in order for him to recover quicker. The stiches shouldn't open up as long as he doesn't mess with them. Ask your vet what he thinks though.

I hope Tyler will continue to recover from here on. Sending good vibes...

Doc visit went well.. Doc gave him a shot to stimulate his appetite.. and he said to let him roam the house..he is not on pain meds..he is smart enough to know his limits. He is starting to calm down. Doc gave me Nutrical to help him gain some weight back. Thank God, he was a fat cat, having all that extra weight helped out.
